Nien Nunb? Or Nien Not?

Posted by Paul | September 27, 2012 at 09:25 AM ET

So, Nien Nunb is the focused figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. While working on the review, we couldn't help but recall the Nien Nunb figure we received in 2009's Legacy Collection, the one in the B-wing Pilot uniform. The debates are still ongoing. Is that Nien Nunb? We have a case to make and we want your feedback on it. Click through for more.

INCREDIBLE UPDATE: While working on this article, our friend Chris from BanthaSkull.com was busy posting some other great reference photos in our RDR on Nien Nunb! Please find them now added to this article!

Why we believe the Sullustan B-wing pilot in the meeting roon on the Home One is Nien Nunb:

He is wearing the same skull cap as Nien Nunb. This may be a weak argument, but Ten Numb doesn't wear a skull cap.

The face "make-up" is nearly identical when comparing the Nien Nunb that we know as Nien Nunb and this red outfitted B-wing pilot. Ten Nunb has a different face color and the details in the mouth appear differently. Look at the white sections that box in his face. Nien Nunb doesn't have this (on either character we are claiming as Nien Nunb).

The red flight suit is the same flight suit seen on the Nien Nunb character co-piloting the Millennium Falcon during the Battle of Endor. It's very plausible he removed the extra gear as it was not needed to co-pilot the Millennium Falcon.

All Rebels are organized by respective squadrons in the Home One. All B-wing pilots are situated together, all A-wing pilots are grouped together, etc. The only mixed clusters of Rebels are those working on special assignments together like the Shuttle Tydirium crew heading to the Endor bunker, or the large Millennium Falcon crew planning to hedge an attack on the second Death Star. If this supposed "Ten Numb" was just a regular B-wing pilot during this battle, he wouldn't be standing next to Lando Calrissian during this conference. He obviously joined Lando Calrissian as the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon and as we stated above removed the unnecessary gear since he was no longer going to be piloting a B-wing.

At the Endor celebration at the end of the film, Nien Nunb returns to his normal B-wing pilot gear.

And this also proves that Nien Nunb isn't as short as the new action figure shows.

So, what do you think? Weigh in on the comments below! You can check out the brand new The Vintage Collection Nien Nunb (VC106) figure in our Research Droid Reviews right now!
