The Vintage Collection: A 2012 Recap Guide And More!

Posted by Paul | September 01, 2012 at 09:46 PM ET

It's been a very crazy year for collectors who loved The Vintage Collection, hasn't it? Not knowing when stuff would actually hit retail (most of it still hasn't yet) has been frustrating, annoying and downright upsetting. Even though Hasbro promises good change is forthcoming, with all of the chaos this year, we thought a brief guide of what has been released in the basic figure line this year will help to recap where we are and where we're headed. Also, hopefully this can catch you up on some of our Research Droids Reviews for any figures you may have missed in the midst of the debacle. Click through for more....

We've arranged the figures by release order and then by VC number. Hopefully this will better clear up the disorganized mess that became The Vintage Collection for you. Remember, we have one more wave of 12 figures coming. Eight are brand new with the other four being repacks but new to The Vintage Collection packaging. These four figures were released originally in Walmart's Discover The Force line. Please be sure to note that The Vintage Collection isn't totally going away per Hasbro. They have plans to release exclusives in this packaging next year, so don't throw out the baby with the bath water, OK?

Good things will still come and we'll eventually see The Vintage Collection as a basic figure line return at some point too (in a couple of years). Hasbro is adamant about releasing all of the original Kenner vintage figures in this format (thanks the Maker!) so let's try to remain positive and continue to support the line as we head into Droid Factory territory once again with the return of the Legacy Collection. The reps at Hasbro told us to expect incredible things in 2013 and most of that will be announced at Toy Fair 2013. We're excited about this and hope you are too! We'll be sure to voice our chagrin if things show signs of falling apart in 2013. Don't you worry about that!

Anyway, please enjoy this compilation of the 2012 portion of The Vintage Collection. We hope you find it useful. Click on any thumbnail image to be taken to that figure's specific review - with tons of images and Collector Notes!
