Research Droids Reviews: June 27, 2012 – July 3, 2012

Mandalorian Assault Transport - TCW [SOTDS] - Vehicles
What is there to say about the Mandalorian Assault Transport that hasn’t already been said? Or perhaps that is the most rhetorical question you’ve ever read. Maybe you’re even looking at this item for the first time to hear something about it at all because it’s vehicle that just didn’t have widespread availability.... (read the full review)

Nikto (Skiff Guard) - TVC - Basic (VC99)
If there was one figure that we thought we’d never see updated in the modern Star Wars action figure line, we’d probably have to confess we thought it was Nikto (Skiff Guard). A long running “yet-to-be-made” figure in the modern toy line, Hasbro has mercilessly made us wait years and years for him.... (read the full review)

Star Wars: Battlefront II Droid Pack - TAC - Exclusive
The Previews exclusive Star Wars: Battlefront II sets were some of the most anticipated multipacks in recent memory. As much as gamers wanted action figure representations of the characters in the video game series, it was collectors that were perhaps a little more eager seeing them realized as action figures.... Star Wars: Battlefront II Clone Pack - TAC - Exclusive
Hasbro has released two multipacks based on characters from the Star Wars: Battlefront II video game, although we feel some of the characters are represented across the first video game too. Between the two separately packaged bunches of figures, collectors are treated to 13 very unique Star Wars characters, but not all are that wonderful.... (read the full review)

Anakin Skywalker's Podracer - SW [TPM 3D] - Vehicles
More often than not, Hasbro isn’t that great at apprising the collective body of changes they make when they rerelease vehicles originally tooled from years ago into the modern line. It’s not completely fair to accuse them of complete lack of communication, but being in the know will certainly help the success of a vehicle that is seemingly a repack of a vehicle that we don’t want to rebuy when we originally bought it in 1999.... Starkiller (Vader's Apprentice) - TVC - Basic (VC100)
Your are probably exhausted from us constantly offering our unsolicited opinion that we feel that characters from the Expanded Universe shouldn’t be released in The Vintage Collection. We’re still not keen on the Expanded Universe logo or know that much about all of the characters chosen, but that doesn't mean that plenty of fans exist that do like these characters and corresponding action figures.... Shae Vizla (Old Republic Bounty Hunter) - TVC - Basic (VC101)
The power of obscurity! Or is it the power of beauty, femininity and sex appeal? We suppose we should be used to this by now in the Star Wars universe. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before when a background female character forges to the forefront of the collective consciousness and all they can do is wish to see more of her. Look what happened to Aayla Secura. A relative unknown in the comics to one of the most favorite and revered female Jedi of all time.... (read the full review)
