It’s another The Clone Wars toy based on the awesome Landing At Point Rain episode of season 2! Unbelievably, Hasbro has managed to keep a focus on a single The Clone Wars episode without it becoming overly repetitive or boring. But seriously, how can any Star Wars (or The Clone Wars) not fall in love with strikingly colored clone trooper armor, buggy Geonosians raiding the Republic and just an overall action-packed episode with more explosions and vehicle flybys that we don’t care to count!? Perhaps the most puzzling thing about this Deluxe figure is that it’s not a general release item and a Toys R Us exclusive instead. The Clone Wars version of the Geonosian Warrior is truly action figure perfection and since there are a bazillion of them throughout the various stories of The Clone Wars, it is a wonderful thing when Hasbro finds new ways to release them in new ways for collectors.
Hasbro decided to repaint the Geonosian Warrior that came in 2011’s TCW Assault On Geonosis Battle Packs set. But interestingly, the Geonosian Warrior has a uniquely different paint job. It’s done in a dark green paint operations that’s similar to the Geonosian Warrior that came in 2011’s TCW Special Ops Clone Trooper And Geonosian Drone TARGET exclusive two-pack, yet is different in many other aspects. We have to say that this particularly Geonosian Warrior has the most authentic and best paint job we have seen in The Clone Wars line to date. The darker green works infinitely better and the joints seem ever so tighter than all other releases to date which significantly helps posing the figure issue free. Of particular note, the paint job on the four articulated wings is simply mesmerizing. Hasbro has somehow developed an art form that gives this figure a very organic appearance. We’re very impressed with the final results.
The Geonosian Warrior is super-articulated. Whilst not all the joints are ball-jointed, Hasbro still tried to incorporate ball-socket joints wherever possible. And despite having a sonic blaster accessory that is much too pliable and rubbery, it’s designed excellently and the figure can hold it effortlessly. The included Separatist Speeder is a clever rework of the speeder that originally came in 2003's SW Darth Tyranus's Geonosian Speeder Bike Deluxe set but most recently brought back in 2009’s TCW Speeder Bike With Count Dooku Deluxe figure set. It’s essentially unrecognizable as a repainted vehicle so it’s a little perplexing that it’s the same vehicle that was seen in The Clone Wars film being ridden by Count Dooku. And since this vehicle can actually be seen in The Clone Wars episode Landing At Point Rain, what else more could you want in a Deluxe set? The Separatist Speeder With Geonosian Warrior Toys R Us exclusive Deluxe set is a worthwhile purchase for your collection. You can consider all of the contents “new enough” for your collecting needs.
