Ahsoka Tano's quest to stop Grand Admiral Thrawn brings her beyond the galaxy once more to the World Between Worlds, where she gains newfound wisdom.
Hasbro has saved a lot of its tooling budget by consistently making action figures based on the same characters. The Vintage Collection isn’t what it used to be, and getting the same character with no, minor, and slightly notable changes is commonplace anymore. Take, for instance, Ahsoka Tano (Peridea). This version is the “white knight” Ahsoka Tano, as seen in Star Wars: Ahsoka. It’s a stark contrast to what we usually see the Togruta wear. Instead of dark colors contrasting with the orange skin, now we have the Jedi wearing a lighter color palette, which incorporates some of the stylings of Jedi from the Sequel Trilogy, much to our chagrin. Hasbro took 2022’s TVC Ahsoka Tano (Corvus) (VC222) figure and added new parts, including new forearms, new lower legs, and a new skirt section. Then, to change things drastically, I gave the figure a light paint job that matches the character of the Disney Star Wars Series well. Admittedly, the figure looks great, but we are so bored by the continuous releases of the same handful of characters that it’s a bit difficult to get excited by such releases. Or shall we say “re-releases” instead?
Let’s reminisce. With the release of The Vintage Collection’s Ahsoka Tano (Corvus) (VC222) figure, a comparison between this figure and the original 2012 TVC Ahsoka (VC102) figure is reminiscent of comparing a POTF2 figure versus a TVC figure. There might be a bit of hyperbole in that assessment of what Hasbro can accomplish in the standard 3.75-inch collector scale. Based on the character’s appearance in the Disney Star Wars series, Ahsoka Tano is a beautiful action figure sculpted with premiere design. It has a gorgeous paint job and accessories that will make you a happy collector, even if they are light. Ahsoka Tano (Corvus) is a mostly reused figure with some pivotal new parts. Have you noticed that Hasbro is releasing new characters into the line in multiple scales closer together and many others at a 1:1 ratio to make the buying playing field fairer? We are thrilled to see that it has employed this method. We also have this version of Ahsoka Tano in The Black Series [Phase IV] line, so there is, again, competition. Hasbro worked in an astounding 26 points of articulation into Ahsoka Tano (Peridea), and they did a fantastic job hiding many of the figure’s joints, especially in the knees.
The technology afforded them is doing wonders for the figures. They are capable of producing brilliant figures on this scale! The paint operations on Ahsoka Tano (Peridea) are especially impressive. We can’t recall a better example of Ahsoka Tano with cleaner lines and natural color tones than this release. We’re impressed with what Hasbro completed here. If you take note of the deco on the horns, you’ll notice they’ve never looked better. Hasbro got a little artistic with the pattern this time around. Ahsoka Tano (Peridea) falls short of the accessories. Hasbro only included a fully lit lightsaber and shoto. They omitted the hilts, and that’s a major disappointment for us. Why do they do this? We should probably be used to this now; after all, 2021’s TVC Ahsoka Tano (Mandalore) (VC202) didn’t come with hilts either. Like previous releases, they made the blades transparent. They don’t have the slightest white tone, which isn’t screen-accurate. But it’s a minor setback for the quality placed elsewhere within this action figure release. The card art is beautiful. Hasbro also seems to be making positive strides with the packaging. Let’s see what happens, though.
Status: Ahsoka Tano (Peridea) is a retool and repaint of 2022's TVC Ahsoka Tano (Corvus) (VC222) figure. This time the figure has new forearms, lower legs, and skirt and has been completely repainted.
