While we have zero interest in Star Wars: Ahsoka, we must admit that Captain Enoch And Thrawn’s Night Troopers Builder Pack in The Vintage Collection is one of the more engaging and interesting multipacks to come out of the company in quite some time. All of their appearances are odd, and perhaps that’s the root of their effectiveness as action figures and toys. Not necessarily colorful, the set of four troop builders provides a lovely backdrop for this Grand Army of stormtroopers while providing some diversity in the ranks of these Imperials members. Enoch was Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Captain of the Guard. Captain Enoch led Thrawn’s legion of Night Troopers aboard the Star Destroyer Chimaera to greet Elsbeth. They had common interests with the new Dathomiri friends, and their goal was to eliminate the threat of the Jedi Ezra Bridger by destroying him. This plan all got interrupted when Ahsoka Tano appeared and changed everyone’s plans. Now, we have a cross-section of this battalion of soldiers, and we anticipate collectors will welcome these additions to the line as they’re some of the first troopers we’ve received in this series. And we have to boast that it’s nice to see them in TVC and NOT TBS6 for at least a little while.

The new figures look fantastic. They share quite a few parts, but you would have to carefully analyze this side by side because sharing parts doesn’t stand out as much as you might think. However, the base figure for all four characters is the 2022/2024 TVC Stormtrooper (VC231) figure. Hasbro took this base figure and retooled a bunch of new and interchangeably installed them into the three infantry troopers in this multipack. Captain Enoch is the most different from the Stormtrooper. Hasbro tooled us an all-new portrait, torso, and a new belt/skirt combination piece. The figure has colorful gold, maroon, and gray paint operations, and you’ll find accents like “cracks” painted here and there to give the figure a little more depth and dimension. What is also interesting about Captain Enoch is that Hasbro tooled an all-new weapon for this action figure. It, too, has some gold detail on it and fits right at home with its owner. The tooling of the Stormtrooper is holding up well, and the new parts are designed to interact beautifully with the figure. Captain Enoch also offers the collector a wide range of movement, and you’ll find that posing it is easy and has an excellent center of gravity.

The three Thrawn’s Night Troopers characters also borrow a lot of tooling from the VC231 Stormtrooper figure. This time, however, Hasbro needed to tweak a whole other figure, almost as they needed to include parts in the arms, legs, and torso that had the maroon wrappings around the armored plating. But instead of providing the same approach for each figure, they spread the new tooling across all three figures, creating three uniquely designed action figures here. Then, they took that further by changing up the paint operations. For example, one character has an all-white helmet, one has an all-gray helmet, and the other has a combination of the two colors. Likewise, two have wrappings around the chest, and one has wrappings on both lower legs, but the other two have wrappings on one or the other. As you can see, Hasbro took advantage of the number of permutations they could work with to give us distinct members of the Night Troopers. Hasbro could probably develop another four-pack of four different-looking characters. This set has an MSRP of $54.99, which is fair based on how much new tooling is within it. We hope future sets incorporate this much newness.
