Padmé Amidala was a courageous, hopeful leader, serving as Queen and then Senator of Naboo – and was also handy with a blaster.

It’s been quite some time since a figure from The Black Series 6-inch excited us. And that’s all thanks to the stunning Padmé Amidala character based on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. With so many second-rate and mediocre female characters forced into the Disney Star Wars timeline, it’s lovely to see some of the classic heroines added to premium collector lines like The Vintage Collection and The Black Series lines because it’s the legacy characters that mean everything to Star Wars collectors, not the newbie stuff. The all-new Padmé Amidala action figure is perhaps one of the most flawless Hasbro ever produced for the 6-inch format. The figure has a stunning likeness. The face is a dead ringer for Natalie Portman, moles and all. And the precision worked into the costume detailing is nothing short of amazing. What’s more, Hasbro matched the coloring perfectly to the on-screen costumes. We’re slightly disappointed with the number of accessories included here, but we can barely find fault there. Hasbro included a large blaster and a smaller standard silver blaster pistol we see Padmé Amidala utilize in the film. But to accommodate the smaller handled blaster, Hasbro tooled an alternate hand attachment with a smaller grip to ensure the blaster would stay in place. We’re grateful to see Hasbro implement this feature here. Padmé Amidala comes with wonderfully fluid movement thanks to its premium articulation system. The robes that hang down the lower half of the figure don’t inhibit any movement or action you choose when you pose this figure. Overall, we’re confident you will thoroughly enjoy what Hasbro accomplished with this Padmé Amidala action figure. We hope they decide to produce some of the queen’s more colorful and extravagant outfits from The Phantom Menace. With so few characters created from the Prequel Trilogy in The Black Series 6-inch lineup, we hope more are coming to collectors soon.
