During the Clone Wars, the Pykes became the galaxy's preeminent spice dealers, funneling illicit substances to Coruscant's crime families. After Jabba the Hutt's death, they expanded their spice trade to encompass Tatooine.

Pyke Soldier is an amalgamation of every Scooby Doo villain. That’s about the most accurate description we can give to this Disney Star Wars character. The Pyke Soldier hardly looks and feels like a Star Wars character, but that’s par for the course in this day and age of Disney Star Wars. For heaven’s sake, we had a Sanderson Sister in Star Wars: Ahsoka. Why wouldn’t we have a Scooby Doo character in The Book Of Boba Fett. We first saw the Pyke species in The Clone Wars, and many can’t help but see a resemblance between the Jedi Temple Guards also seen in The Clone Wars and the Pyke species. For Disney Star Wars, we get a broader story of these characters, and it was inevitable that Hasbro would begin making action figures based on them for the supporting toy line. The Black Series [Phase IV] Pyke Solider is a well-made action figure, but it’s boring too. It has the same standard articulation system as other figures in the lineup, and it has a beautiful design and is engineered well. It only comes with two weapons, and the figure interacts with them beautifully. The paint operations are perfect, and the figure holds positions well. So, why aren’t we a little more impressed? It’s just that the figure doesn’t complete a scene for collectors. There isn’t much play you can do with it. And its appearance feels like they borrowed it from other entertainment sources. If you’re interested, the Pykes all have unique masks, and knowing how desperate Hasbro is these days to save every penny possible, we anticipate receiving multiple Pyke characters with a new mask and everything else the same. Isn’t it a terrible shame that we can nearly predict what will come from Hasbro these days? Well, at least we can recreate scenes with more than one Pyke if that does come to pass.
