The Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series presented new and old Star Wars to fans. The Grand Inquisitor is an existing character that debuted in Star Wars: Rebels. And now it's part of the live-action series that reintroduced Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in a final duel of the fates. The realistic interpretation of the character is interesting. The face is full, and the body stockier. But it does resemble the inordinately skinnier version seen in the animated series. We're not surprised to see the Grand Inquisitor added to The Vintage Collection. It is indeed a wiser choice than the universally panned Reva character. But no character part of a Disney+ Star Wars show will garner a broad enough audience to make these action figures successful at the retail level. That said, let's take a closer look at this fascinating character.

The Grand Inquisitor is a Pau'an. But as we mentioned, it's a different take on this species, typically lanky creatures with extra-long arms. Star Wars fans were introduced to the Pau'ans in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith when Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Utapau. As seemingly timid characters, we're surprised to see one converted to Grand Inquisitor. We're still determining if the live-action interpretation of this species works. But your opinion may vary on that. Hasbro's action figure in The Vintage Collection is a well-made toy. It comes with all of the articulation you'd expect to see. They worked in some soft-goods materials, this time a cape, but it looks cheap and has a stiff drape. So, it doesn't fall closely to the action figure's body and form-fit itself against the action figure. We find this disappointing. It is dark red on the interior and black on the exterior.

The head sculpt of the Grand Inquisitor is impressive. They designed the likeness of the character well. It has a rounded head and a slightly angry expression. And the Photo Real application does the action figure justice. The rest of the design of the action figure's body is gorgeous. It's shiny where it needs to be and faithfully replicates the on-screen character well. Much to our surprise, Hasbro added two holes in the upper back of the action figure to house the ringed hilt when not in use. There are two prongs on the hilt, which makes this installation possible. They also added in a fully lit double-bladed lightsaber. It feels too long in our eyes, but overall, it interacts with the action figure well. Overall, we're pleased with the final product. No matter how much you loathe Disney Star Wars, one cannot deny the beauty of the latest action figures Hasbro produces. What a shame there aren't more OT characters.
