Mandalorian/Ahsoka Tano/Grogu, The - TBS [P4] - Six Inch Figures

The Mandalorian is battle-worn and tight-lipped, a formidable bounty hunter in an increasingly dangerous galaxy who finds a mysterious alien pursued by bounty hunters on behalf of Imperial interests.

Is it just us, or is The Black Series 6-inch becoming quite dull? The line that’s supposed to have higher profit margins is the line that’s become not much more than continuous repacks and repaints. It feels like we’re living through the “Saga Legends” hell during the “Golden Age of Collecting." Over a decade ago for the 3.75-inch line. We expect Hasbro to repack the most popular characters, but a line that’s as expensive as it is makes it nearly impossible to stay up to date with all of the latest additions to the line. Hasbro took the opportunity to produce The Mandalorian/Ahsoka Tano/Grogu set to give us an Ahsoka Tano figure with a soft-goods poncho and an all-new Grogu figure. But aside from a clip and a spear, The Mandalorian figure is identical to the last time they packed the figure with Grogu. And overall, this set feels unnecessary. And it’s laughably expensive. And that’s unnecessary too. This multipack will set you back $67, and when two action figures and the equivalent of an accessory for the third character cost that much money, it’s time to start rethinking your collector status. Hasbro doesn’t see the dangers of alienating their customer base, so you should expect these ridiculous prices to continue until the line abruptly gets canceled one day, should that ever happen. How can a line sustain itself when no one can afford the merchandise? That said, The Mandalorian/Ahsoka Tano/Grogu set looks excellent, and the three action figures contained within it are some of Hasbro’s finest moments in The Black Series 6-inch line. The Ahsoka Tano figure is eerily lifelike, and the addition of soft goods pushes it over the top. Collectors will love what Hasbro did here. The Mandalorian isn’t out of the ordinary, and it’s honestly a bit boring. Getting a new Grogu is always acceptable, so we have a new addition to the lineup that should also please. The Mandalorian/Ahsoka Tano/Grogu multipack is an Amazon exclusive. We wonder how well it will do since much of it is rehashed. We hope Hasbro diversifies the 6-inch line much more than they do. They need to understand the importance of background characters, like cantina aliens and Jabba’s palace aliens, as they make up some of the most compelling characters in the Star Wars saga. But instead, we’ll probably get a half-dozen more rehashes of a set like this.
