The Empire occupies Jedha with Stormtroopers, who are elite shock troops fanatically loyal to the Empire. A prolonged battle between Imperial forces and scattered Rebels carries on in the timeworn streets.

For a while now, it’s been our opinion that Hasbro hasn’t utilized 2020’s TBS [P4] Imperial Stormtrooper (TM02) sculpt as much as we expected them to. You’d think they’d want to amortize the tooling cost of that figure, or perhaps they sold so many of the original releases that it’s already paid for itself in full at this point. But as the 6-inch line continues, Hasbro becomes more desperate to reuse existing tooling. And with that said, they created a release based on that figure’s tooling of the Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While Hasbro gave this figure the fancy title of “Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol,” the action figure is nothing more than an Imperial sandtrooper squad leader (with a few differences). So, we expect Hasbro to revisit all of the pauldron-wearing stormtroopers from both A New Hope and Rogue One to once again save on new tooling and to help collectors complete the many ranks that make up the Galactic Empire. Once you remove all of the gear from the Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol figure, you’ll find that we have a “straight repack” of the 2020 release. There may be a few slight paint operation differences, but we can’t tell what’s different from a cursory review.

The new parts here are gorgeous. Hasbro faithfully replicated the backpack of the Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol figure perfectly. It hugs the figure’s body like a glove and is easy to put on, once you remove the pauldron. We’ve seen MANY pictures online, including Hasbro’s PRESS IMAGES that show an incorrect assembly of the backpack and pauldron interaction. We don’t believe we’ve come across a correct assemblage once in our search. The backpack strap needs to rest UNDERNEATH of the pauldron (as seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). This order is only possible if you remove the pauldron first before installing the backpack, which also means you have to pop off the figure’s head/helmet piece and reinstall it – and that’s a significant inconvenience since the parts are so tight. But with patience and a little elbow grease, you can make it work, and the final geared-up Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol action figure looks impressive. Hasbro also recreated the antenna, and there is a little square-shaped hole on the back of the backpack where it inserts and stays in place with a friction hold. The antenna is extraordinarily long but faithfully matches what we see in Rogue One. Hasbro did a fantastic job here.

The Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol figure also comes with the standard DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle that most sandtroopers have. It fits nicely into the figure’s left hand, and it can hold the rifle with both hands alternately. The articulation system on the Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol is excellent. You can have the figure stand at attention, place it in a running position, or have it kneel in battle. You have endless options when it comes to positioning this figure. Hasbro worked in an incredible 30 points of articulation into this 6-inch figure. The portrait has a buttery-smooth movement thanks to its double joint. Not only does it come with a ball-socket head, but it also has a reversed ball-socket neck. The fluidity of the movement is fantastic, and you can tilt the head at every angle possible, thanks to this ingenious design. The design of the helmet is equally impressive. Hasbro has come far with its tooling technology. And this figure shows us all how precise they can be to capture every nuance and detail. Aside from wishing to see some dirty paint operations, we're content with this figure. Part of a wave that Hasbro didn’t officially announce, pre-orders for it went up almost unnoticed. People are scrambling for this wave as many retailers are out of stock. But we’re sure we will see more availability later.
