Formerly a member of the Bad Batch, Crosshair's loyalties shift after his team defects from Imperial service. Committed to the Empire, Crosshair leads a new squad of enlisted recruits.
In The Bad Batch Disney+ series, Crosshair led the Clone Troopers to kill the Bad Batch. And when this occurred, Crosshair donned a new all-black armored costume. And by the subtitle of the character Imperial, we know that this is something related to the newly developing Galactic Empire. Coincidentally, Crosshair (Imperial) looks like a Dark Trooper. So, will this all lead to connecting the dots to The Mandalorian where these characters appear and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? Moff Gideon perfected the army of Dark Troopers. Is it possible this detail will all be tied together before the end of the series? No matter your feelings, The Bad Batch 6-inch figures are well done. But admittedly, Crosshair (Imperial) is a bit boring, no fault of its own. We recently received the “regular” version of this character in The Black Series [Phase IV] basic assortment, and getting a repaint of the exact figure in black with some revisions doesn’t do much to bolster the line. And it feels like we’re opening up the same figure a second time (which we technically are). A Walmart exclusive, the Crosshair (Imperial) figure sold out relatively quickly, but it’s not as “rare” as some of the other Walmart exclusives released alongside it.
Crosshair (Imperial) is a clone commando, part of the Grand Army of the Republic during The Clone Wars, and part of Clone Force 99. The character’s most incredible skill was his role as a sniper as he was an astonishing marksman with the ability to hit quarry from great distances. Cold as ice, Crosshair (Imperial) didn’t befriend many comrades. Avid fans of the character know that he referred to infantry clone troopers as “regs” and not worth his time or consideration. Sarcastic, dry, and rarely friendly, Crosshair was often at odds with his closest teammates. And all of these characteristics and traits make him an enjoyable Star Wars character. Hasbro eventually developed the character into a The Black Series [Phase IV] 6” action figure. As you know, Hasbro added some “wear and tear” into this figure’s armor. They did this by adding scoring throughout the armored pieces, leaving scratches behind and other signs of battle damage to remind us that this action figure has seen some danger a couple of times. Although this figure is a retool and repaint, the original release mainly was all-new, and Hasbro articulated the joints very similarly to the Clone Trooper (Kamino) (TCW01) figure released in this lineup’s first wave.
Crosshair (Imperial) comes with a removable helmet with an articulated rangefinder. This new design of the clone commando helmet is stunning. It’s very curvy and has an incredible amount of detail in it. The helmet fits tightly on the figure’s head. Underneath the helmet, you’ll find an impressive clone portrait of Crosshair. Crosshair’s incredible likeness to Grand Moff Tarkin strikes us. The resemblance is reminiscent of the infamous Galactic Empire leader, from the gray-colored hair to the widow’s peak. The character has a damaged left eye, similar to Clone Commander Wolffe, and other facial scarring, which reminds collectors of the trauma this clone experiences. The Photo Real is gorgeous, and the paint operations throughout the action figure are nothing sort of impressive. For weaponry, Hasbro included a generous amount of options. The guns include a DC-17 blaster pistol and a sniper rifle that splits into two pieces. Also included is a backpack that stores the snip[er rifle halves. Hasbro designed this beautifully, and they should be proud. But we have to be honest. A retool/repaint so soon prevents us from appreciating or eagerly anticipating this action figure. It’s more of an obligatory purchase.
Status: Crosshair (Imperial) is a retool and repaint of 2021's TBS [P4] Crosshair (TBB02) figure. This time the figure comes with a revised torso, a different belt, and an all-new helmet.
