A feared bounty hunter known for her chalk-white skin and built-in comlink antenna, Aurra Sing was an expert sniper and trained assassin who would work for anyone who paid her.

Oddly, Hasbro decided to source Aurra Sing from The Clone Wars instead of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. We always believed that unless the character wore a source-specific costume, Hasbro normally sourced them to their first major appearance in the Star Wars timeline. Aurra Sing’s screentime in Episode I didn’t amount to more than a cameo appearance. Despite this, the bounty hunter gained notoriety throughout many Star Wars circles. It wasn’t soon that licensees began pumping out one collectible or action figure after another character, and all releases have sold exceptionally well. The Black Series [Phase IV] Aurra Sing (TCW08) action figure is the latest addition to the merchandising world. Simply put, it’s a work of art. It is perhaps the best action figure interpretation of the character. The Vintage Collection’s Aurra Sing (VC73) held the record for nearly a decade. Still, Hasbro shows everyone what they manage to accomplish in the 6-inch action figure range, and the final results are nothing short of extraordinary. The Vintage Collection collecting community still makes out better because Hasbro has given us more accessories on the 3.75-inch version, but let’s take a look at what they achieved for The Black Series line.

Hasbro nailed Aurra Sing’s dark eyes and deadpan expression perfectly. You can’t tell what this action figure is “thinking,” but you know it’s up to no good. Subtle, cautious, dangerous, and lethal are all words that come to mind to describe the personality traits Hasbro etched into this piece of plastic. And we’re impressed that Aurra Sing maintains her popularity as one of the most important Star Wars characters in the Star Wars universe, female or otherwise. And the character’s inclusion in the ever-popular The Clone Wars television series has helped solidify her status as such. Perhaps Hasbro’s decision to color code Aurra Sing under The Clone Wars banner is because they utilized her more than being a prop in The Phantom Menace. Whatever the reason is, it doesn’t matter. Hasbro produced a stunning action figure interpretation of the character, and anyone who likes Star Wars action figures will want to add this figure to his or her collection. From the orangey-red bodysuit to the brown leather vest, belt/holster, and boots, Aurra Sing is everything you’d want for an action figure in The Black Series 6-inch line. The tooling is fresh, Aurra Sing is proportioned well, and even the most minor details like the long fingers are something Hasbro replicated brilliantly.

For accessories, Aurra Sing comes with a removable leather vest. It comes highly detailed, and you’ll find various gadgets and accouterments on it. The vest is fitted and clings to the action figure’s torso like a glove. The belt/holster combination piece is also removable, albeit a little bit challenging to remove. With little patience, you can slide it off vis the figure’s legs. It also has a wealth of details, like the chain and the holster pockets for the two blaster pistols included here. The blaster pistols are new sculpts and fit both the figure’s hands and holsters perfectly. Thanks to superb upper body movement, Aurra Sing looks fantastic, wielding them as needed at the quarry the bounty hunter wants to acquire. Lastly, Hasbro included Aurra Sing’s signature extra-long blaster. It comes in two pieces: the blaster rifle and the strap. Admittedly, we hate the inclusion of a separate strap. It’s difficult to attach to the weapon, and it falls off easily because of how Hasbro designed it. It’s instantly frustrating to try and pose the figure with both parts of the blaster rifle. Your opinion on this may vary. With so few characters from The Phantom Menace in The Black Series [Phase IV] line, we’re still surprised that Hasbro didn’t choose different sourcing here. Regardless, Aurra Sing is another excellent addition to the Star Wars toy line. You’ll love it.
