A master of hand-to-hand combat, Koska Reeves is loyal to Bo-Katan and is a member of a band of Clan Kryze Mandalorians striking back at the Imperial remnant.
As The Mandalorian storyline continues to unfold, there are many introductions to new characters we see. Koska Reeves is one of the newer characters in the television show. Part of the band of Clan Kryze Mandalorians who are boldly disloyal to the Imperial remnants, she develops a partnership with Bo-Katan. She is a female Mandalorian and a member of the Nite Owls. Alongside Bo-Katan and Din Djarin, Koska Reeves hijacked an Imperial cruiser and many other adventures on the popular Disney+ show. She also traveled with Din Djarin to get the darksaber back from Moff Gideon. The reacquisition of the Darksaber was essential to the Mandalorians because they believed they couldn’t regain control of Mandalore unless they had it in their possession. A not-so-surprising release for The Black Series [Phase IV] 6-inch figure line, female Mandalorian characters are all the rage for fans of the show. We should expect to see more, both on-screen and in plastic, as more are introduced into the series.
Immediately out of the box, collectors will notice that Koska Reeves is another fine addition to The Black Series 6-inch line when fully outfitted in the Mandalorian armor. However, once you remove the helmet, you’ll notice that the likeness is not terrific. The character is portrayed by WWE professional wrestler/actress Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado, and she is a beautiful woman. While it’s evident Hasbro tried hard here, the action figure does not have the same beauty as the actress. Sometimes Hasbro nails human likeness in this scale of action figures, and then there are times they completely miss the mark. We feel that Koska Reeves is somewhere in the middle of this range. Kosta Reeves is about 90% of 2021’s TBS [P4] Bo-Katan Kryze (TM10) figure. This time the figure comes with an all-new head sculpt, a new belt/holster combination, and Hasbro completely repainted it. If you have the Bo-Katan Kryze figure, you know what to expect here. The figure comes with an excellent and functional articulation system. You’ll achieve a tremendous amount of poses, and the articulation holds so some of the more action-oriented poses you want to achieve.
Koska Reeves comes with a new removable helmet with an articulated rangefinder. The helmet doesn’t look too big for the figure’s body. And it also fits snugly without being difficult to place on the figure’s head. Hasbro seemingly mastered this combination of parts too. Removable helmets don’t work nearly as well in The Vintage Collection 3.75-inch line. Also included are two Mandalorian blasters. Hasbro tooled hands that accommodate these weapons beautifully. And thanks to articulation, the figure looks realistic, pointing them at its enemies in displays and on shelves. Lastly, Hasbro also included a removable jetpack to complete Koska Reeves’ Mandalorian appearance. It fits a little bit too loosely for our tastes, but at least it stays in place when posing the figure. You may have to adjust it, however. If you’re a fan of The Mandalorian, Koska Reeves seems like a Mandalorian-tory purchase. If you’re a 3.75-inch collector, Hasbro may never produce this character in that scale for us. We’ll have to see. Hasbro wants to focus on The Mandalorian and related characters. We could expect to see more in any scale at this stage of the game now.
