Lando Calrissian served as a general in the starfighter attack on the second Death Star, showing off his superb piloting skills by guiding the Millennium Falcon into the Death Star superstructure.

As Hasbro plays “forever catch up” with The Black Series 6-inch line, it’s fantastic to see their recent focus on characters from the Original Trilogy, especially Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. As we near the 40th Anniversary of the beloved third episode of the first Star Wars films, Hasbro continues to develop the characters surrounding the Battle of Endor a priority. The final production figures are excellent additions to the line. General Lando Calrissian is the next in the Return Of The Jedi storyline Hasbro tells through their Star Wars action figure line, and dare we say it’s one of their most exemplary efforts to date. Hasbro masterfully produced the all-new General Lando Calrissian figure, and it’s a fine addition to The Black Series [Phase IV] line. The only setback the figure has is the missing characters it needs with it to flesh out dioramas and displays. Where is Nien Nunb? Where are the Rebel Commandos or Endor Rebel Troopers? Hasbro has to get busy and produce these characters. The detail and sculpting of the 6-inch line are fantastic, but what’s the point if you cannot world-build?

That said, General Lando Calrissian is a marvelous accomplishment and one of the best-looking 6-inch figures in recent memory. Hasbro reached a new level of excellence with the 6-inch line as of late, but action figures like General Lando Calrissian show that there is still some magic hidden in their pockets to bring us incredible surprises. General Lando Calrissian is one of these without question. The head sculpt of General Lando Calrissian defies expectation. Looking at the portrait, you won’t believe how close they came to capturing a near-perfect likeness of beloved actor Billy Dee Williams in this action figure. Yes, the Photo Real is a massive upgrade to The Black Series line, but collectors often forget that precise contours of the face bring life to these action figures as well. The deco only enhances what Hasbro accomplished with the tooling. General Lando Calrissian is a dead ringer for the on-screen character, and we have to credit Hasbro exceedingly for what they’ve accomplished here. From hair to boots, General Lando Calrissian is purely gorgeous.

For years, The Vintage Collection collectors have been frustrated with Hasbro's General Lando Calrissian (VC47) figure's cape. Why they haven’t updated the cape is beyond anyone’s comprehension. Well, 6-inch collectors luck out here. Hasbro approached the cape for the 6-inch version the way they should have for the 3.75-inch version. The cape is soft-goods, but the clasp is plastic, thin and screen-accurate, and looks exactly like the on-screen prop. The clasp is HUGE and aesthetically one of the most horrifying things in the entire line. TVC collectors will undoubtedly envy what 6-inch collectors get here. The figure also comes with a removable chest holster, and it houses the small blaster pistol that fits perfectly into the figure’s right hand when in use. You get a lot of variations with this figure. You can remove the cape or chest holster and pose General Lando Calrissian in various ways, from “at attention” to “action-oriented” stances. The costume looks incredible, and the colors appear to be accurate to the costume from the film. General Lando Calrissian isn’t a figure to skip. It’s one of the highlights in the line.
