The Star Wars Retro Collection is inspired by the 1980s STAR WARS figures and features original figure design and detailing! Continue your collection from the galaxy far, far away!

The Retro Collection is back for a third wave of classically-inspired Star Wars action figures, but this time based on the Disney Star Wars streaming series, The Mandalorian. The new assortment, featuring seven characters, a few of which are not yet available in The Vintage Collection at the time of their release, borrow the simplistic elements of the vintage Kenner line, from their sculpting to their accessories. The Mandalorian is a popular series, and it seems as if collectors of Star Wars toys cannot get enough action figures based on Star Wars Entertainment. Hasbro copied The Mandalorian’s design off of the styling of 1978’s SW Darth Vader and 1979’s SW Boba Fett figures. It comes with a vinyl cape, an essential component of Kenner Star Wars action figures, and two weapons that, while modern for the show, are “retro-fied” to look old and aged. Everything here is perfect. Hasbro took the figure’s paint operations further than Kenner would have, in our opinion. Compared to The Vintage Collection figure, The Mandalorian maintains many of its complex paint operations, keeping it modern looking despite the intent to make it look old. Hasbro placed The Mandalorian on the standard Retro Collection card. They still look like composition books by Mead, and we wish Hasbro would remove the “battle damage” from the artwork. Overall, The Mandalorian is another lovely addition to the Retro Collection line. We strongly support this format and hope Hasbro keeps banging out wave after wave to keep this line alive and retro in style.
