Rather than use flesh-and-blood warriors, the Separatists prefer tall, thin battle droids to serve as mindlessly loyal soldiers that are easily controlled.

It was inevitable. As soon as Hasbro tools a figure that can be repainted to be multiple new characters, the "new" figures start coming out of the woodwork, and the floodgates open wide. For the B1 Battle Droid, the new characters are beginning to trickle out. The Heavy Battle Droid, a GameStop exclusive, and now the Battle Droid (Geonosis) don't look all that different from each other, but they both share the same source, 2019's TBS [P3] Battle Droid (83) figure. The first 6" Attack Of The Clones wave of figures was a beautiful collection of Jedi, but Hasbro also included a member of the Separatist Droid Army, the B1 Battle Droid is rusty red as seen in Episode II during the Battle of Geonosis. The Black Series 6" collector base should count themselves fortunate for getting this style of Battle Droid so soon. The Vintage Collection figures still don't have the red Battle Droid in that lineup yet, and it seems to be a necessary release for a wave of action figures based on the Battle of Geonosis. Admittedly, this release feels less exciting, because the Heavy Battle Droid looks so much like this one. It nearly feels like the figure is a straight repack. It isn't, but you might be surprised how similar they are to each other.

If you're looking to develop your Separatist Droid Army, this might be a droid you'll want to add to your collection. With beautiful paint operations and a fantastic articulation system, the Battle Droid (Geonosis) release isn't a figure to ignore. We're now up to three B1 Battle Droid figures in The Black Series 6" line. Will we see more soon? There are plenty of styles yet to add to our collections. Security droids and drivers have unique color flashes. And then Expanded Universe is loaded with many other types too. Hasbro can amortize a single sculpt countless times, and it helps bring us all-new action figures. So, it's that reality that allows us to hope for more B1 Battle Droids. Some collectors feel Hasbro waited too long to show this Prequel Trilogy character the love it deserves. We think it arrived on time. If you loved the previous two, then here is more of the same to enjoy as well. We'd claim that this figure is almost perfection in a box. Still, aside from wishing there was a tad more articulation in the hips and knees (360-degree movement to be specific), the Battle Droid (Geonosis) figure will be a release that 6" collectors are going to want to army build in substantial numbers. The only thing that will stop them is the cost.

With an astounding 30 points of articulation including premium ball-jointed articulation and a paint job that is as beautiful as the tooling, the Battle Droid (Geonosis) figure ranks up there with some of Hasbro's most magnificent 6" figures of all time. And it's only a repaint of the original Battle Droid release. You can pose the Heavy Battle Droid figure in some pretty energetic action poses thanks to the figure's articulation. It holds its poses well thanks to great anchoring in the sculpt and sleek design. Some poses require a little more attention than others, but generally speaking, the Battle Droid (Geonosis) figure can attain almost any position you need. Whether folded up or blasting the enemies in the Petranaki arena during the Battle of Geonosis, this figure can do it all. It comes with a removable backpack that snaps on firmly to the figure's dorsal side. And it comes with articulated antennae, which is a lovely touch. You can remove the backpack and replace it with the more extended antennae attachment so that you can own both kinds of B1 Battle Droids in your collection. The figure also comes with its signature droid blaster. Precise articulation allows the Heavy Battle Droid to hold it with one hand or two hands. We still want to see so many others added to the 6" line, like OOM-9 and Security Battle Droids.
