In its ultimate push towards galactic quest, the Firs Order readies an army of elite soldiers that draw inspiration and power from a dark and ancient legacy.
Part of the Triple Force Friday marketing scheme includes four exclusive repainted variants of figures released into the general marketplace. Each figure is available at an exclusive retailer, including Amazon, GameStop, Target, and Walmart. Labeled “Carbonized,” each figure has received a special paint job that ranges from pearly to metallic, and all aesthetics in between them. The Amazon exclusive is the Sith Trooper (Carbonized) figure, which looks like a The Black Series 6” figure dipped in a candy-apple coating. Honestly, this version of the Sith Trooper looks better than the regular version. The metallic red finish looks incredibly more screen-accurate than the neon red-colored plastic they used to cast the regular figure. The bright red “candy apple” finish catches the light beautifully and has self-illuminating properties thanks to its shiny finish. If Hasbro could have figured out how to decorate their C-3PO action figures with a similar type of deco in gold, collectors might complain less. The Sith Trooper (Carbonized) comes with a First Order blaster with red and black details and refreshed packaging that has a shiny and reflective finish to help accentuate its exclusivity
We still don’t know much about the Sith Trooper or its role in The Rise Of Skywalker. Disney has maintained a significant level of secrecy once again for most of the characters in the final installment of the Skywalker saga. It feels like Episode VII and Episode VIII all over again. So until the film is released, this is what we can expect. The Black Series [Phase III] Sith Trooper (Carbonized) is a great interpretation of the character, and the design of it should make collectors quite happy. Although the figure is a “repaint” of the regular Sith Trooper, the character isn’t too different than a newly colored First Order Stormtrooper with different gear. Hasbro tooled an all-new figure because they wear revised armor (from helmet to boot). And you’ll find parallel scoring lines sectionally throughout the armor. You’ll also find different features that make it different from a basic First Order Stormtrooper. Bright, eye-catching, and extremely red, the Sith Trooper is becoming increasingly popular for collectors eagerly anticipating the release of Episode IX in theaters. Let’s take a closer look at what the Sith Trooper (Carbonized) offers collectors.
For about $5, all you get is a revised paint job. And that’s about it. You will have to weigh if this is worth the extra dollars. We think it is. The “carbonized” feature is unique for the Star Wars line. It has a strong collectible vibe to it. There are some highlights of the Sith Trooper. The figure has excellent and fluid movement. It’s an all-new sculpt, and the figure utilizes the new “butterfly” shoulder joint. This allows you to push the shoulders behind the character a bit more than the standard figures allow thanks to the flexibility of these premium joints. All of the figure’s joints move very easily, and you can achieve a wealth of positions simple and without struggle, thanks to its excellent articulation system. You can only get this iteration of the Sith Trooper from Amazon. It will be interesting to see if this variation gimmick will go over well with the collecting community and if Hasbro will continue it in the future. But Hasbro was smart to limit the “Carbonized” for the armored figures only. That was a sagacious decision indeed. From the figure itself to the packaging, the Sith Trooper (Carbonized) is a fine addition to the line, and they stand out as an exquisite Star Wars collectible.
