The droid tri-fighter is a weapon of the Trade Federation, which has aligned itself with the Separatist forces. The droid is armed with laser missiles that contain buzz droids, which attach to enemy ships and tear them apart.

There’s a new weapon in town from the Separatist Droid Army, and it comes in the form of a Droid Tri-Fighter. One of the largest droids in the Star Wars universe to date, the Droid Tri-Fighter is the latest weapon of mass destruction that will undoubtedly wreak havoc on the Republic, and both sides fight during the unprecedented Clone Wars. Hasbro worked this latest Separatist droid into their “Mid-Size” Vehicles Assortment, so it fits right in with other vehicles like Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter and Grievous’ Wheel Bike with little to no interruption at all. With three large wings that are equidistant from the center sphere, the Droid Tri-Fighter is one of the most unique-looking characters in the Prequel Trilogy thus far. Hasbro did a great job tooling the Droid Tri-Fighter to match the onscreen characters well, and the inclusion of five buzz droids (three collapsed, and two that are posed walking and attach to the outside of the Droid Tri-Fighter) give this vehicle release a wonderful authenticity. From the sculpting to the paint operations (and also the decal sheet), Hasbro produced a toy with incredible screen-accuracy and well as fun play features.

Armed with multiple laser cannons, three are found on each “arm” of the vehicle with two more protruding from the central sphere. For those interested, the central sphere is also where the Droid Tri-Fighter’s artificial brain is housed too. The most-feared trait of the Droid Tri-Fighter is its capability of releasing buzz droids by way of missiles found underneath the vehicle. The buzz droids can disable larger vehicles like the ARC-170 starfighter and V-wing starfighter with relative ease and devastating results. The Droid Tri-Fighter looks great. Hasbro gave the vehicle clean and even deco. The Droid Tri-Fighter comes with a large decal sheet, and it takes some time to apply them all. Many are optional (like blast damage and the like). But the decals do fantastic things to the Droid Tri-Fighter’s appearance. The vehicle comes with five buzz droids in various stages. They, unfortunately, cannot be attached to the missiles on the underside of the vehicle, so you’ll have to use your imagination there. Thankfully, two of them can be attached to the side of the vehicle. You can also store them in the central sphere too.

Hasbro designed the missiles incredibly, and this hidden arsenal is something that makes this droid more dangerous than it looks. The Droid Tri-Fighter’s concealed weaponry (presented here are projectiles) is standard for many vehicles released in the Star Wars toy line, but for one reason or another, they look extra incredible here. The Droid Tri-Fighter was one of the most visually exciting vehicles to watch in Revenge Of The Sith. And all of the character’s most important features are here for your enjoyment. Between the firing projectiles, the buzz droid “droppings,” and the articulated central sphere, the Droid Tri-Fighter offers enough for both kids and collectors and it’s fairly priced as well. If you’re a collector that prefers to have an action figure pilot your starships, you can squeeze one into the opening canopy door. If you like play features, they are missile projectiles and removable torpedoes, and of course, the buzz droids. The Droid Tri-Fighter is one of the better “vehicles” produced by Hasbro. It doesn’t have much screen time, and the sensory overload seen during the Battle of Coruscant makes it perhaps an obscure release. But we love when Hasbro decides to make things that aren’t front and center. It diversifies the toy line.
