"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."
The adventure continues with this exciting introduction of figures from the Star Wars trilogy! Each figure is authentically styled with incredible detail and is fully poseable.

Wielding his lightsaber, Obi-Wan prepares to battle Darth Vader.

Kenner/Hasbro possesses the uncanny ability to make the old new again. In the first couple of years of The Power Of The Force “2” line, they’ve managed to release and re-release the same characters over and over again while keeping the line fresh and free from stagnation. We’re sure there have been a couple of action figures over the years that made collectors sigh, but more of than not Kenner/Hasbro has done a fantastic job is keeping collectors interested and engaged in their line. This approach transcends into the Action Collection line as well. How many times have they issued a 12 Inch Figure version of Obi-Wan Kenobi now? And the version released in The Power Of The Force “2” [FlashBack/CommTech] line look might be the greatest of them all. It might be missing an important part of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s costume, but the additions here won’t allow you to care. Let’s take a closer look at why this is so.

The latest Obi-Wan Kenobi Action Collection 12 Inch Figure adopts a new take on the character. Inspired from the scenes where they’d just escaped the clutches of the Galactic Empire in Docking Bay 94 on Tatooine, this version of Obi-Wan Kenobi focuses on the earliest moments of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi training while on the Millennium Falcon heading towards Alderaan. Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn’t come with his signature outer robes, but he comes with the important accessories Luke Skywalker utilized while gaining a deeper understanding of the Force. Kenner/Hasbro added Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber (which breaks down into a glow-in-the-dark blade and hilt), the training remote (which breaks down into training remote with post and a round-shaped display base), and the blast shield helmet Obi-Wan Kenobi borrowed from the Millennium Falcon to teach Luke some foundational principles of trusting his feelings.

It makes the most sense that the greatest enjoyment you’ll get out of these accessories is if you pull out your Luke Skywalker Action Collection 12 Inch Figure and have him interact with them. But it’s also “fun” to imagine Obi-Wan Kenobi brushing up on his skills as well. It’s evident that most of the accessories that come with this figure are exclusive to the Millennium Falcon, so it’s not like Obi-Wan Kenobi had any of them but Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber in his humble abode, still, the Expanded Universe/off-screen storylines you might contrive in your head may allow for some interesting play value. Based on previous versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi, not too much new on the figure is present here. There are some slight differences here and there, but perhaps not enough to notate or document. Getting so many unique accessories with the Star Wars Action Collection line is the absolute best approach for this line. We’re glad to see Kenner/Hasbro go this route.
