Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) - TBS [P3] - Six Inch Figures (75)

Princess Leia Organa was one of the Rebel Alliance's greatest leaders, fearless on the battlefield and dedicated to ending the tyranny of the Empire. In the battle on Hoth, Leia helped evacuate rebel forces as Darth Vader and his fleet descended upon the rebel base.

There’s a major wave of The Empire Strikes Back infiltrating The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line and it’s making collectors from all over the world very happy. 2017 and 2018 are two years where Hasbro focused their attention and energies on not only making characters from Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, but also another middle episode story with Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. We have enjoyed the focus Hasbro is giving to the most-favorite Star Wars film of all, and the figures they’re making are looking better than they ever have thanks to “photorealistic” technology. More importantly, Princess Leia Organa is getting some focused attention in the line, and that’s making collectors especially happy. Although they introduced the base sculpt of Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) in the TARGET exclusive Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) figure a few months earlier, the newest figure brings its uniqueness and purpose to the line because every nuance of an outfit change is something that Star Wars collectors love to see represented in their toys.

Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) is a retool and repaint of 2018's TBS [P3] Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) TARGET exclusive figure. But this time Hasbro gave the figure an all-new head sculpt and lower legs. This update was necessary because Princess Leia’s “Hoth” outfit has boots and the “Bespin escape” outfit has shoes. And it’s obvious that she is wearing two different hairstyles as well. Princess Leia Organa (Hoth)’s head sculpt is beautiful. And the enhanced deco breathes life into the figure. Even the way her blush has been applied is like nothing we’ve seen up until now. Hasbro also repainted the rest of the figure’s outfit too. And they also tooled a removable quilted vest just like we see in Episode V. It doesn’t encumber her movement at all and is cast from a pliable material which is easily removable. Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) comes with 27 points of articulation across 16 areas of joints. The figure has excellent mobility and versatility and can be posed in a variety of ways. Sometimes the joints on these figures are a tad loose, but our sample doesn’t have this issue. So posing her is relatively issue free.

In addition to her removable vest, Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) comes with welding goggles and a welder. Hasbro added these accessories because they are based on the scene when Leia is welding a section of the Millennium Falcon while parked inside the exogorth’s body which they erroneously believe is a cave. These accessories are wonderfully sculpted and painstakingly detailed. The goggles fit over her head like a glove, and her hands tightly hold onto the handle of the welder. We think these accessories are nice additions, but perhaps an interchangeable set of hands, like maybe the ones that came with Princess Leia (Bespin Escape) would have also been nice to include here since she is seen wearing her Hoth outfit with and without her white gloves. Either way, Princess Leia Organa (Hoth) is a stunning figure in The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line, and Hasbro should be very proud of the production figure. Hasbro keeps focusing on characters from Episode V which is a beautiful thing, but we’d like to see them get a little more adventurous with the background figures from The Empire Strikes Back too. Think characters like E-3PO, Ugnaught, Lobot and Cloud Car Pilot. They’d be amazing additions.
