Detailed Visual Analysis

Princess Leia Organa

General Analysis

Princess Leia Organa was one of the last figures I acquired during my adolescent years. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI card back in the 80s, but I never found her. In my experience, she was one of the more difficult figures to track down that was from the original Star Wars line. I almost thought for a while that they stopped producing her. The action figure never brought me incredible joy, like the action figures from the RETURN OF THE JEDI line, did, but I had already developed a “completist” attitude and needed her for my collection regardless. Years later while in college I started collecting original Kenner figures in their packaging. I finally tracked down a 12-Back version of her, but it arrived damaged. The top of the bubble popped open, and I could effortlessly slide her in and out of the damaged bubble. I ended up putting in a claim with the United States Postal Service to get my hard-earned money back (I was making $8 an hour back then), but I never thought to switch out the mint figure from the damaged figure for a loose version of a lesser quality or condition. Oh well.
