Anakin escapes certain death from the dangerous beasts in the Geonosian arena and as Jedi reinforcements arrive, he wields his lightsaber against the Separatist forces in what becomes the opening battle of the Clone Wars.

Remember those classic Star Wars Burger King glasses? Well, Hasbro decided to bring them back in the form of a TARGET exclusive, but they changed a few things in the process. The glasses are no longer glass, but plastic. And this time they come with an action figure and packaged in a deluxe boxed set. The figures themselves aren't anything special. Hasbro has reached back deep into their long roster of figures and has pulled some of the most popular Star Wars figures from previous lines. These lines included The Power Of The Force "2", Power Of The Jedi, Episode I, in addition to a couple others. And they developed a collection of figures to complement the Episode-specific drinking glasses included with them. For $9.99 you get a Star Wars action figure and a nicely detailed glass with attractive artwork. It's not the greatest deal, and it certainly isn't the worst deal. In all honesty, the Figure and Collectible Cup collection look nicer in the packaging than they do outside of it. And it's probably unlikely that collectors will use the drinking glasses to consume liquids. TARGET picked up this line of exclusives, and they seem to be taking off with collectors. We just have to see where the line goes after this. So far the current collection stops at Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones.

To complicate matters a little bit more, the Star Wars “Saga” line has anything but a shortage of Anakin Skywalker action figures in it. We should not be surprised when Hasbro decides to repack another for an exclusive like this. Originally starting off life as 2002's SW [S - P1] Anakin Skywalker (Hangar Duel) ('02 #22) figure, Hasbro revised and re-released it in the Star Wars "Saga" Hall Of Fame collection. It's this revised version that has been included in the Figure And Collectible Cup collection now. At least with each attempt, Anakin Skywalker has been very scene specific, and whether it is the outfit or the accessories that makes him unique, the diversity is appreciated. Based on his appearance towards the conclusion of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, this popular Anakin Skywalker figure is released once again because Hasbro thinks he complements the included cup the best. During the conclusion of Attack Of The Clones, Anakin Skywalker sustains a major physical injury, the loss of his right arm, thanks to Count Dooku. Hasbro worked this detail into the sculpt so kids and collectors will recreate these scenes. With adequate accessories and a decent paint job, we don't believe that collectors will be buying this set for the action figure.

While this won’t be a roaring success in the eyes of hardcore collectors, Anakin Skywalker should interest kids looking to recreate his battle with Count Dooku and have Yoda come to the rescue in his time of need. Anakin Skywalker is a bit more articulated than earlier Anakin Skywalker versions, but a lot of that has to do with the included action features. Besides, this figure is aging terribly after three short years, so why are they choosing this figure to re-release? The removable right arm comes with the plug attachment this time. If you recall, the original 2002 version came with a magnetized arm attachment and Hasbro is now moving away from magnets. You can still utilize the “rollers” on his back for the left wrist twisting. (Um, wouldn’t it have been a whole lot easier to include to include a simple swivel wrist instead?) And unlike the original version, he only comes with a blue lightsaber (with a plastic hilt). The sculpt of Anakin Skywalker is about average for us. We're still not sure if he warranted a re-release. But for one reason or another Hasbro believed this figure was the best match for this exclusive release. The cup, however, looks wonderful. We would have preferred glass instead of plastic, but it looks fantastic regardless.
