The Disney Store is proud to introduce the Star Wars Toybox range of action figures, bringing adventures to life with characters from across The Walt Disney Company.

Out of the blue and into our hearts, Disney made a surprise announcement that they would be releasing a line of action figures that would be exclusive to the Disney Store and Shop Disney online. But no one expected to what degree these figures would be made, especially when it came to their articulation. Much to everyone’s shock and elation, the Disney Star Wars Toy Box line mixes premium super-articulation (someone is listening at Disney thank goodness) with an animated style borrowed from the now-defunct Disney Infinity gaming event. Although produced in a larger five-inch scale this time, the Disney Star Wars Toy Box line mixes the artistic approach of the Disney Infinity statuesque figures in a bigger size. The Disney Star Wars Toy Box figures fall smack dab in the middle of Hasbro’s super-articulated 3.75” scale and 6” scale figures. Yes, there is another scale to collect. But hopefully, the animated style will make this line feel unique aside from the size they are. Kylo Ren is luck number 1, the inaugural release in this line. And he is divine.

We wonder if Hasbro caught wind of Disney taking this route with a Star Wars action figure line. Could this have been one of the catalysts to get Hasbro to bring back The Vintage Collection? We’re beginning to wonder if this line might have something to do with this. Regardless, Disney has entered the competition by making super-articulated action figures (smaller than 6” scale), and they’ve done a fantastic job already with this figure wave. Kylo Ren comes with multiple accessories and an astounding 27 points of articulation. This more articulation than most The Vintage Collection figures. With a wealth of premium ball-jointed articulation (including a ball-jointed head), Kylo Ren can be posed in a wealth of positions that most collectors desire to see with their action figures. The sculpt of Kylo Ren is beautiful had it come with no articulation, but adding 27 incredible points to this beautiful sculpt has just completely blown us away. Imagine if this figure was made in realistic style? Disney may have had the hit of the year on their hands. Let’s hope that realistic style is in the cards one day.

Kylo Ren comes with a removable hood as well as his signature lightsaber. The hood is a little bit difficult to remove, but it is possible. He looks great with or without the hood, and we love the alternate look this accessory gives him. Underneath they tooled a beautiful helmeted portrait which captures the anger and frustration of this character perfectly. The lightsaber has also been tooled in an animated style and looks brilliant as well. He can hold the accessory well in his right hand. But his left hand has his fingers outstretched in anger or distress or conjuring something evil from the dark side of the Force. Disney tooled lower plastic robes for Kylo Ren, but he can still achieve a vast array of movement thanks to the clever cuts Disney made in the tooling to allow his legs free movement as needed. We’re truly excited for this new and exciting action figure line from Disney. We have had a lot of complaints with the merchandising thus far, but this is the first time where we can honestly say we’re being wowed by a new line of figures like this. We hope and pray for Original Trilogy characters next. Disney needs to step away from the Sequel Trilogy if they want this line to thrive.
