Rebel Commando Pao: A fierce amphibious Drabata, the rebel commando Pao charges into battle with the Empire while shouting a full-throated battle cry of "Sa'Kalla!" He joins the Rogue One team on its historic mission to secure the Death Star plans.

Moroff: Moroff seeks out combat zones in the galaxy to sell his brawn and firepower to anyone who might need it. The mighty Gigoran mercenary figures there's money to be made for a towering heavy gunner of great strength.

Imperial Death Trooper: The elite soldiers of Imperial Intelligence, Death Troopers are encased in specialized stormtrooper armor with a dark, ominous gleam and serve as bodyguards and enforcers for Director Krennic.

Imperial Stormtrooper: Stormtroopers are the faceless legions of soldiers serving the Galactic Empire. Encased in white armor, stormtroopers are loyal Imperials who undergo training that strips them of any sense of individuality.

When Hasbro does even the smallest thing to an action figure to make it different from its original release, it’s a good bet that fans will either be happy or just quietly look the other way. It is when the same exact or rehashed figure gets released is when collectors revolt. Look, repacks are an inevitable part of the hobby, but Hasbro hasn’t had a great track record of releasing repacked figures that retail needs. And just because you put the same figures in different packaging doesn’t make the worthwhile repurchases. When it comes to the Kohl’s exclusive Rogue One four-pack, Hasbro added figures with decent changes to make this purchase feel unique instead of the same old thing. So we have to commend Hasbro for this. The Rebel Commando Pao/Moroff/Imperial Death Trooper/Imperial Stormtrooper Kohl’s exclusive four-pack is a great set that not only makes sense as a related cast of characters, but allows us to army-build while getting some distinct uniqueness. Let’s look at what you get inside this expensive multipack. Even if we approve of this set’s contents, we’re having great difficulty accepting the $49.99 MSRP, which thankfully doesn’t hold much water when it comes to Kohl’s frequent and insane discounts. (We got ours for less than half price.)

Rebel Commando Pao and Moroff are probably the closest to their original releases. Both part of the Rogue One Two-Packs line, and both characters come with slight changes to their original paint jobs. The figures look fantastic still, and despite their simple articulation, most collectors can admit that these action figures are nicely done. Rebel Commando Pao comes with a removable backpack and blaster rifle. Moroff comes with a blaster rifle in addition to the very large harnessed cannon that he came with in the Two-Packs line. We do see some differences in the paint operations and the applications may look a tad better here. Even though both characters had minor roles in the film (especially Moroff), they’ve become fan favorites already. Star Wars collectors just love aliens, especially when they’re reminiscent of Original Trilogy characters. Let’s face it. A Star Wars four-pack where 50% of the contents are aliens is just a wonderful thing. But it would have been nice to receive at least one all-new character here instead. These are cheap figures to make. And Hasbro could have afforded one new addition to give to collectors. It’s a guaranteed sale. How come they still can’t figure this out?

The biggest changes to the figures in this set focus on the Imperial Death Trooper and Imperial Stormtrooper. This time the Imperial Death Trooper comes loaded with dirt on its very shiny and black armor. It looks a little bit out of place. We don’t remember them looking this dirty in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but whatever. At least the figure has been given a different paint job. Even the harnessed cannon he comes with has been give this dirty application too. The figure’s legs come out of the packaging a little bent, but this is easily remedies with the infamous “hot water” treatment. The paint applications are nice, and it’s great to get another Imperial Death Trooper. The Imperial Stormtrooper is a repaint of the figure from 2016’s RO Baze Malbus/Imperial Stormtrooper Two-Packs set. Instead of an orange pauldron, Hasbro gives us a white pauldron. We wished they included a black pauldron instead. All in all, the Rebel Commando Pao/Moroff/Imperial Death Trooper/Imperial Stormtrooper is not the end of the world. And it does feel that you’re getting some newness here somewhat which is key for a store exclusive.
