Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) - RO - Basic

Kanan Jarrus was a Jedi Knight and leader among a small group of rebels known as the Ghost Crew. He carries a lightsaber and a blaster – an uncommon practice for a Jedi.

Any Star Wars character as a disguised Stormtrooper is just automatically cooler, right? Well, it worked for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Then it worked for MANY Expanded Universe characters. Now it’s part of the plot of the Star Wars: Rebels television show where Kanan Jarrus along with Captain Rex don stormtrooper disguises for their own story in the television show. Part of the popular second season (9th episode) entitled Stealth Strike, Kanan Jarrus gets another release in the action figure line, but at least he is wearing a different costume, and it’s an all-new figure. Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) may not be an action figure topping the lists of most Star Wars collectors, but the character does resonate well with those who watch the television show, especially kids. So from this perspective, the action figure is a wise choice. From all perspectives, Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) is a well-made action figure. He comes with just about the right amount of accessories and has a great sculpt. As usual with the 5POA line, the only thing holding this action figure back is the articulation. Then again, we have heard differing perspectives from parents of kids. Some kids love the extra articulation; others find it difficult to pose figures with such articulation. What a conundrum!

Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) has an excellent sculpt. This figure stands out from the rest of the figures in the first wave. Something just “pops” when you look at him. Keeping in mind that Hasbro is translating these characters from computer animation into three-dimensional playthings, they’ve done an admirable job at capturing Kanan’s attitude, appearance, stature, and personality. Some mistake his sneer for grumpiness, but we feel it accurately reflects what this character is about, as he is always on guard and wary of any unsure situation. His left raised eyebrow encapsulates this perfectly for example. Although his sculpt is simple, and the paint requirements aren’t complicated, Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) looks beautiful. Hasbro has been tightening up their paint operation processes very nicely, and it’s evident that Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) is a recipient of this “new” approach. They're either upgrading the way they’re doing the paint jobs or they're the processes have been calibrated a little more effectively. Something is different here. Whatever has transpired has ended working towards the benefit of the action figure’s appearance.

Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) comes loaded with accessories. His screen-specific gear includes a perfectly fitting removable Stormtrooper helmet, a removable officer’s pauldron, an E-11 blaster, and a lightsaber. He also comes with a three-part Force effect launching gauntlet. Admittedly, we don’t find this “off screen” accessory annoying. It seems to interact well with the figure. He’s able to hold onto the gauntlet,, and he looks pretty cool utilizing it. It’s a bit of a pain to situate in his hand, but it is possible with minimal effort. We’re especially impressed with the removable Stormtrooper helmet. It fits over his head nicely and doesn’t look overly huge or anything while he is wearing it. Again, the paint operations here are minimal, but they look fantastic.The removable officer’s pauldron is a nice touch. It lays nicely on his shoulders and is easily removable if you’re looking for a more generic Stormtrooper disguise for him. And both his E-11 blaster and lightsaber are nicely sculpted and can be held in his hands with relative ease. It would be divine to have this action figure sculpted with super-articulation. Imagine all of the poses that could be achieved for a character that’s always “in action” in the television series. But the Kanan Jarrus (Stormtrooper Disguise) action figure looks so good as is that we have difficulty finding fault with it.
