Following the release of the Hot Toys Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Stormtrooper Collectible Figure; Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are now pleased to present a specialized soldier of the Galactic Empire – the 1/6th scale Shadow Trooper Collectible Figure!

This rare and highly-accurate sixth scale figure is specially crafted based on the image of a Shadow Trooper in Star Wars and features the finely crafted and painted glossy black Shadow Trooper armor and helmet with weathered effect, detailed weapon and accessories, and specially designed figure stand.

Star Wars fans, don’t miss the chance to include this unique trooper in your Galactic Empire display!

Gentle Giant Ltd. may be solely responsible for bringing the Blackhole Stormtrooper to the forefront of collector consciousness. If it weren’t for those three chase pieces in the 2005 StarWarsShop.com exclusive Stormtrooper Bust-Ups packs, the fire may have taken years longer to start burning for this ultimately cool reverse stormtrooper. But 2005 seems to be the year that the infatuation for the Blackhole Stormtrooper can be traced back to yet the passion for this character hasn’t seemed to dissipate at all. And we think the Blackhole Stormtrooper deserves every ounce of interest it receives. There has been much debate over the years about whether the Shadow Stormtrooper is the same character as a Blackhole Stormtrooper. And for all intents and purposes, they are exactly the same. But Shadow Stormtrooper is really the correct designation for the character, hence the reason that we really don’t see “Blackhhole” designation getting used all that much anymore in this modern era of collecting. They were often referred to as Blackhole Stormtroopers because they were utilized by Agent Blackhole as seen in the comic strip Gambler’s World distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate (and subsequently collected in Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures 1-3). The years have brought many, many variations of the Shadow Stormtrooper and now Hot Toys brings their interpretation to life and the results are fantastic.

In just the last few years, Hasbro and other Star Wars licensees have seemingly been compelled to release new interpretations of the Shadow Trooper. We went through a period of time when we almost got sick and tired of them. Then we went through a period of intense drought and licensees in general just pretended that this character no longer existed. Now, with the advent of The Black Series line, Hasbro has added a 6” scaled figure, a 12-Inch Figure version and we expect a few more to be made before all is said and done. Despite licensees buckling down or igniting a new fire with the Shadow Trooper, it remains part of their line and it’s a trend that is continuing strongly today. For many, the Shadow Trooper has become a focal point for collectors. There are absolutely some collectors that cannot get enough of this character. After all, a reverse Stormtrooper is as much of an anomaly as it is a definitively awesome collectible. We have had some brilliant collectibles of this character so far, but the Hot Toys version may be the cream of the crop for most of us. Everyone knows how flawless their sculpts and designs are, and you can expect the same quality for the Shadow Trooper. Part of the deluxe Movie Masterpiece Series line, you can trust that no sacrifice was made with regards to detail, scale, fit and the accessories that accompany him.

Getting another incredible 1/6th scale version of him may feel redundant (this makes the fourth across different licensees), it’s comforting to finally admit that we have the definitive version. This version really takes the cake for us. Exclusive to SideshowCollectibles.com, this should mean that once these puppies are gone that we’ll never see this figure again. Hot Toys has really created a stellar product here. But that is the old news. But it’s important to reiterate that they’ve mastered things like the appropriate tightness of joints, the perfect weight of the figure in order for it to hold its center of gravity more easily, and the perfect luster to give the armor to make it believable without being too bright or too dull. The paint job on the Shadow Trooper is spectacular. It is shiny, but it also has signs of wear which are noticeable but do not obstruct the view of the beautiful armor. Even the helmet design is about as perfect as we could have hoped for and for this interpretation we once again get silver lenses in the visor. The Shadow Trooper also comes with a standard stormtrooper blaster and it can be placed in his real-leather functioning holster. And that reminds us. So many parts of this figure is easily rremovable and replaceable. We love this see functionality like this. There is certainly a great deal to appreciate here for sure. This is textbook definition definitive.
