A servant of Darth Vader and the Empire, The Inquisitor was tasked with hunting down and eliminating Jedi who survived Order 66.
The repacked figures in The Force Awakens line are becoming a little too frequent in our opinion now. It’s almost a motto of ours when we say we understand the need for repacks, but it just doesn’t seem like Hasbro is choosing the correct figures to repack lately. Why do we need The Inquisitor repacked in The Force Awakens line? Essentially only showing a cameo appearance in the first season of Star Wars: Rebels, the character is now (spoiler alert) dead and a new character in his place has taken over the command. Whatever. It doesn’t change the fact that he is a necessary figure to purchase if you’re attempting to complete your Build A Weapons (if you’re worried about such things). But if you’re a fan of the Rebels television show, you might be delighted to know that Hasbro has carried forward the updated paint operations of the running change that we saw in case assortment revisions in the original Rebels Saga Legends lineup. The detail in the face is tremendously better than what was given to the original version, so we shouldn’t discount that. But we just don’t know who will be needing The Inquisitor action figure because most people should own him by now who are into the show.
As you recall, one issue after another prevented most of the Rebels basic figures from arriving on time, and for many, at all. In fact, most arrived months late, and many collectors haven’t seen one Rebels Saga Legends figure arrive to their areas to date. Thankfully, for those that missed out, you have a second opportunity to add The Inquisitor to your collections. Hasbro developed a very nice version of this character for the basic figure line, albeit with simple articulation. The Inquisitor is a well sculpted action figure that brings a major character with a very short-lived role from Rebels television show into the toy line. If you recall, StarWars.com was the lucky media outlet that revealed The Inquisitor almost a full year before his release in late December 2013. The final figure looks VERY different from the prototype we saw, but that’s expected as prototypes are made to look especially nice for solicitation purposes. But the final figure didn’t fare badly at all. The sculpt is great and the paint job is even better. The only thing we don’t like about his is his silly ringlet lightsaber, but that’s no fault of Hasbro's. He has this thing in the show and it looks like he is playing with a Star Wars role play toy instead of possessing a real heavy duty weapon.
The Inquisitor is a Pau’an. We haven’t really seen much of the inhabitants of Utapau throughout the Expanded Universe. But it’s nice to see another tie to Episode III in the Rebels television show. We also haven’t received many Pau’an action figures in the basic figure line, save for 2005’s ROTS Tion Medon (2 of 4) Sneak Preview and 2005’s ROTS Utapaun Warrior (III 53) figures. The Inquisitor seems a little more civilized by comparison, although knowing about this species in Episode III makes it a little bit difficult to believe that Mr. Inquisitor would have such a lofty role in the Empire. But that’s just us. Hasbro did a very nice job on the head sculpt. The Inquisitor even has the texturized skin pattern that the character in Revenge Of The Sith has. Of course, that detail is about the only one the characters share because The Inquisitor is dressed in style for the Empire and following the threat the Pau’ans fought against during the Clone Wars. It’s a bit ironic The Inquisitor is now serving under them. Anyway, here’s your second chance at this popular Star Wars character. If you collect such things, The Inquisitor also comes with a Build A Weapon part so you build silly things. This figure will likely perform well at retail. And we hope it does so the new figures will continue to arrive.
Status: The Inquisitor is a slight repaint of 2014's R The Inquisitor (SL03) figure.
