The security soldiers of the Guavian Gang wear high impact armor that makes them stand out among other deadly criminals.

About the only thing we know about the Guavian Enforcer is what Wookieepedia has online. Their entry states “The Guavian Death Gang Enforcers were deadly individuals employed as security soldiers by the criminals of the Guavian Death Gang in operation roughly thirty years after the Battle of Endor. These soldiers wore high-impact armor, making them stand out from other deadly criminals.” And that’s it (until December 18th at least). We are able to tell you however that they are very interesting new characters for the Star Wars universe as evidenced by the new The Black Series [Phase III] 6” action figure. Imagine if you will a character that is about equal parts Rum Sleg, Royal Guard from Crimson Empire, Crimson COBRA Commander and Starkiller from The Force Unleashed. If all four characters were meshed together you’d likely be left with the Guavian Enforcer. Many collectors do not see the strong resemblance of this character to the G.I. Joe line (also from Hasbro), but we see it strongly and we love that, for lack of a better term, a crossover of sorts has been made from G.I. Joe to Star Wars.

But most of the Guavian Enforcer is steeped in Star Wars, so most collectors should be able to to find favor in this character. But even if you don’t see that specific resemblance, you’ll no doubt find the Guavian Enforcer a welcomed addition to The Black Series line. Hasbro has come far with this scale, and the Guavian Enforcer makes this all the more evident. With a very athletic frame, the standard articulation system of The Black Series 6” figures works beautifully here. The figure has little to no difficulty attaining every pose possible. And certain areas of articulation are especially noteworthy when they interact with each other. For example, the double hinge-jointed knees, swivel thighs and ball-jointed/”rocker” ankles allow the Guavian Enforcer to do some pretty amazing things in your display. This character seems to be standard in height when compares to the other figures in the line, so we don’t expect him to be extraordinarily tall or short in Episode VII. We’re also going to assume that there are multiples of these characters in The Force Awakens, but we’ll be interested more in their roles than anything else.

A very impressive aspect of the Guavian Enforcer is the paint job it received. Not often attempted on any Star Wars figure in this day and age, Guavian Enforcer has received a stunning final wash which gives the dark red uniform a great deal of character. He is wearing long rubbery looking gloves as well as shoulder armor which seems to mimic the same materials used to make the gloves. But his signature thick belt loaded with pouches and straps hanging down his thighs is perhaps the most unique aspect about this character. The details etched into this separately sculpted (yet not removable at least for us) accessory are nothing short of impressive. Silver and red details ornament the belt and add texture and dimension to an already complex design. We’re not too crazy with this boots, but they’re hardly anything to be disappointed about because they still look alright. We just wanted to be wowed by them. They just look too thickly ribbed for our tastes. It’s a little disappointing to not see what is behind the masked helmet, but hopefully we’ll find out when the film is release. Other than that, we’re totally in love with the Guavian Enforcer.
