The All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) blasted its way into battle for the first time at the Battle of Geonosis, and proceeded to unleash its aggressive power all through the Clone Wars. This armored assault vehicle moves with unyielding intimidation toward enemy fortifications, plowing through energy shields and firing its six laser cannons and a heavy projectile cannon all the way. Its interior can hold a squad of clone troopers that can be quickly deployed for ground combat.

One of the neatest vehicles to ever come out of Hasbro was the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) from the highly anticipated The Clone Wars line. First show at 2008’s New York International Toy Fair, it instantly became a hit at the vent and the anticipation for it arriving at retail was one of the greatest felt in years. Although it was designed to support The Clone Wars film and television show, it was great news for fans of the films because this vehicle made its first (realistic) appearance in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones. Cleverly killing two birds with one stone, Hasbro felt confident to give this vehicle a stab since it had fresh media support in conjunction with the vehicle possessing “must-have” status by those who loved Episode II. The AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) began arriving in July of 2008 and it was quickly being bought by both kids who were fans of the show as well as longtime collectors. The vehicle is massive. It’s not screen accurate as far as its size is concerned, but it’s a hefty vehicle nonetheless and an acceptable size as far as The Clone Wars and Star Wars action figures are concerned. Included with the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) is a Clone Trooper figure. It’s a repaint of 2008’s TCW [B] Clone Trooper (No. 5) figure but this time sports a special insignia on the shoulders, which makes it an exclusive action figure to this vehicle’s release. With a ton of features, the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) is destined to become a classic Star Wars vehicle and perhaps one of the largest Prequel Trilogy vehicles the Star Wars line will ever see. This mammoth sports awesome electronics, a plethora of compartments, and an inordinate amount of play scenarios that will make this the premier vehicle/playset Hasbro has produced in years.

The AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) has been beautifully tooled. Its geometric shape is enhanced with beautiful paint operations. Although its color palette is simple, the accents of burgundy and copper (as well as other shades of gray) bring out its simplicity into a more complex visage. There is a lot going on here, yet it’s organized and orderly despite all of the bells and whistles. The front squared cockpit opens and houses one clone trooper. Yet, the side door opens and has chairs for four (4) more clone troopers who perhaps are navigating the road/battles ahead. But the best feature is the back hatch which can store a battalion of clone troopers. With the push of one button, the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer)’s back opens up gracefully via three separate panels that each open up in a different direction. The longest part actually becomes the steps inside of the clone trooper storage area. It’s impressive to say the least. There are two “submarine” stations where two clone troopers can stand and aim the cannons at impending threats, while the other clone trooper can hold onto the bars during the seemingly bumpy ride. Hasbro added a decal sheet, but it only has a few main decals. Most of them end up in the back of the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) and it’s the perfect accent to an already cool storage area. The main cannon is another glorious addition to this vehicle and it’s loaded with lights and sound effects. You’re going to love it. It also houses a huge cannon projectile that can be launched with the flick of a switch. There is also a seat for the included Clone Trooper to fill and guide the cannon as it obliterates the Separatist forces. Nothing was ignored and Hasbro clearly ensured that this vehicle would bring the best to kids and collectors everywhere.

Something this great couldn’t be imperfect in some way, could it? Actually it could. Hasbro (we’re assuming) didn’t properly test the legs on the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer). They popped out of their sockets if you looked at them the wrong way. And the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) couldn’t support its massive weight on them either. So the vehicle was initially a major disappointment to all that bought it the moment it hit store shelves. (Subsequent releases were fixed with revised attachments parts.) But in good form, Hasbro instructed those who bought the earliest date-stamped units to contact Customer Service and they would be mailed out replacement legs. And boy oh boy what a difference the replacement legs made to the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer). It was like night or day. Basically if the attachments on the legs are clear (instead of dark gray), you have the revised AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer) vehicle. But if you have the legs with the dark gray attachments parts, you best call Hasbro’s Customer Service and see if they have any remaining parts. It’s great for collectors when Hasbro has a media event to support the toy line. They’re less reluctant to make larger vehicles when there is an active Star Wars property that will serve as the advertisement to the toys they make. It’s also a “win-win” for them because there will always be collector support for pretty much anything related to the films. We’re just so thrilled that Hasbro took a chance to produce such a wonderful large0sized vehicle. It’s the perfect complement to the Star Wars line. As a bonus, Hasbro also produced a little later the AT-TE Assault Squad Battle Packs set. This is meant to provide kids and collectors with an “instant” battalion of clones to interact with the AT-TE (All Terrain Tactical Enforcer). The Clone Wars may not be for everyone, but it will serve as a catalyst to get things collectors do want to see in the line.
