Born the day the Galactic Empire was founded, Ezra Bridger has been a lone rebel for his entire life. That is, until he crosses paths with Kanan Jarrus and discovers a mysterious hologram from a Jedi named Obi-Wan Kenobi. What secret will be revealed?

The Star Wars: Rebels line, from here on out denoted as Rebels, opened up with a bang, but a bang that was exclusive to Toys R Us. The Reveal The Rebels: Jedi Reveal, exclusive multipack introduces collectors to two of the television show’s main characters, but Hasbro also threw in a nice surprise (and nod to a character we all know too well). Interestingly, Hasbro is calling this a Mission Series: The Ghost set, but it certainly isn't packed like a Mission Series standard set! As with any exclusive, prices tend to be higher, but with the Reveal The Rebels: Jedi Reveal set, collectors are treated to a total of “three” action figures for under $20. The third figure is one that many collectors won’t call a figure but an accessory, so it’s debatable if there is true value here. But this nicely packaged set is intended to be an introduction to the line more than anything else and if we’re judging the set on those merits alone, we’d say it’s a success. Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger are the two action figures on which this set focuses. Despite Hasbro’s recent inability to paint their action figures neatly within the lines, both new action figures have been given good to excellent paint jobs. No matter where you rank the paint operations, they're at least acceptable in our eyes.

The action figures themselves are more of the same when it comes to simply articulated action figures. Each come with five points of articulation and although we know this is much to the chagrin of adult collectors, we have to say that it’s not upsetting us too much for this line clearly geared at younger audiences. Before you shoot us, we don’t think five points of articulation are acceptable for kids either, but had this been an adult drive lineup of figures, there may have been more effort put into how well these figures could have been articulated. Kanan Jarrus is tall, but that’s mostly because Ezra Bridger is short. But each look comparable to each other and how they appear height wise in the Rebels cartoon. Kanan Jarrus comes with a lightsaber and Ezra Bridger comes with a removable helmet. And even the details on the accessories have been nicely applied as well. You’re truly going to be impressed with how nicely the final figures turned out. We’re extremely picky with paint operations, and we have to say that we’re pleasantly surprised with these production pieces. There is always room for improvement, but overall there is no way you’re not going to be satisfied.

The “hidden” surprise of the set is a holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi action figure (who is described on the box as the "secret exclusive figure"). His sole point of articulation is a ball-socket head and that’s all the figure really needs. The solid clear blue plastic looks fantastic thanks to no interrupting lines where articulation could exist. Although the figure has been blind-packaged, Hasbro lets the cat out of the bag early by posting a picture of the figure and its name on the top of the box art. It honestly ends up not being a surprise in the slightest. Some collectors may find it controversial that Hasbro designed multilingual box art. This has always been standard practice for many countries outside the USA, but it now appears that this might be the norm for the USA going forward. It’s definitely distracting and there ends up being so many unneeded extra words on the box art. But if you’re not a packaged collector, then this will likely have no impact on you at all. Reveal The Rebels: Jedi Reveal is definitely a nice set. It may have been a wiser choice to choose an MSRP somewhere between the average of $14.99, and $19.99, but we imagine Hasbro feels that this is a fair price for “three” action figures. Nice sculpts, good paint applications and modest accessories. These things make up the Rebels action figures for both kids and collectors.
