Anakin Skywalker's second in command during the Clone Wars, Clone Captain Rex was a freethinking and aggressive soldier's-soldier. Gruff, no-nonsense and tough as nails, Rex voiced his professional opinion to even the highest-ranking Jedi.

If it’s possible for a licensee to have an unfair disadvantage with a line of products they have, the licensee would have to be Gentle Giant Ltd. and the line would have to be their gorgeous Maquettes. We understand. High-end polystone collectibles are not for every wallet or every collection. The edition sizes spell this out clearly to us. But if there is ever a moment in your life that you do have almost $100 to burn on a stunning collectible, may we suggest that you delegate those funds to a piece in the Maquettes line, especially the ones inspired by The Clone Wars film and television show. case in point would be the incredible Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) Maquette. It may not be fault-free, but it possesses so much artistry and wonder that we have to let any faults, if they exist, fall by the wayside and appreciate the piece for the greatness it is. Clone Captain Rex is a work of art and it would be an exaggeration to say it’s easily one of their finest pieces. From a stunning sculpt to a paint job that rivals their most impressive efforts before this, Clone Captain Rex is a sight to behold.

Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) Maquette is a tremendous beauty. The design is of the highest caliber and the approach to this pieces borders on being unconventional. Based on his appearance in The Clone Wars film, the Maquette is a bit progressive when compared to a traditional Maquette. Typically these items are one solid piece. But Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) comes with an interchangeable portrait. The one that is his helmet can be removed and you can alternate the separate human “clone” head in its place. Both sculpts and their respective paint jobs are splendidly divine. We cannot find any fault with them in the least. The colors are vibrant and the lines are extremely clean and form the curves and shapes that gives the character his personality. We don’t believe this was the intent, but both the helmeted portrait and the human likeness can be positioned in two different directions, thanks to an almost perfect square peg that holds it in place. What is slightly disappointing however is that the “unintended” placement of the head (looking to the right and over his shoulder) looks infinitely better than the "intended" straight ahead direction/position. But with a little patience you can make it work and looks amazing!

Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) is posed is a very cool action stance. His right arm is outstretched brandishing a DC-17 blaster pistol (with the other pointing upward in his left hand) closer to his body. The details in his armor are replicated with respect and care. Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) looks like he has seen a ton of action thanks to the collection of dirt on his armor. It looks fantastic. And that's not all. The kama folds in all the right places and the pieces to his armor interlock and spread apart in all of the right parts. Limited to only 750 pieces, the Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) Maquette may be one of the few Maquettes that will sell through quickly and command prices over the original MSRP on the aftermarket. It’s almost a crap shoot anymore determining which collectibles will be good investments down the road. But the clone captains and clone commanders in The Clone Wars property seem to exceed expectations in popularity. From head to toe, Clone Captain Rex (The Clone Wars) is a commanding collectible and deserves your attention to consider for your own collection.
