Governing the Order of the Jedi during the tempestuous Clone Wars is the Jedi Council, a twelve-being body comprised of masters of many talents, some warriors of great renown, others sagely and studious, but all wise and selfless, having distinguished themselves by their dedication to enduring peace and justice. Steering this assemblage by example are two of the greatest Jedi of all time. Master Yoda, almost a full millennium in age, wise beyond measure and keenly perceptive, is the sagely grandfather-figure of the current order. Though outwardly small and frail, his tiny frame is a conduit for the power of the Force, which flows through him like a river.

In counterpoint to the understated reserve of Yoda, beside him on the council sits the mighty Mace Windu, a Jedi master whose seething intensity and piercing gaze can melt an opponent's resolve with barely a glance. No less wise than Yoda, Mace's presence is a reminder to all of the strength of the Jedi that flows from the Force. As a swordsman, he is unmatched in skill, the master of vaapad- a dangerously powerful lightsaber technique that unleashes tremendous destructive force and can only be wielded by the most vigilant and self-possessed of Jedi.

During the Clone Wars, Mace Windu's directness and clarity of vision see him taking the role of most senior general in the Grand Army of the Republic. The campaign forges ahead under his leadership, often with Mace himself leading the charge. The Korun Jedi's unique electrum finish, violet-hued lightsaber, seen thrumming and flashing on the front line, is sure to sow fear and doubt among the Separatist leaders.

It is Mace's ability to see the grand picture, even in the heat of battle, that makes him the leader he is, and as the war drags on, an uneasiness concerning the role of the Republic's own Chancellor begins to grow into cool distrust and suspicion. Of all the Jedi, it is Mace Windu who first suspects that the true goal of the war might not be the endurance of the democratic Republic, but the destruction of the Jedi who protect it.

You know Sideshow Collectibles has got it together when they can make a 1:6 Scale Figure that satisfies the accessory/outfit requirements of all three Prequel Trilogy films in one fell swoop, right? Well, that’s exactly what they did with the Mace Windu (Jedi Master) 1:6 Scale Figure. One of the finer human characters in Sideshow’s long-running Order Of The Jedi collection, Mace Windu (Jedi Master) succeeds in nearly every way possible and satisfies all of the important criteria of what makes a 1:6 Scale Figure fabulous. As usual, Sideshow Collectibles has released both an exclusive version and a regular version for this figure and quite a disparity exists in the numbers of units produced for each. Mace Windu (Jedi Master) may be the standout figure in the entire Order Of The Jedi line as far as basic Jedi are concerned. He has an incredible likeness to Samuel L. Jackson (albeit not entirely perfect) and he is proportionately tall to the other Jedi in the line. Well clothed and well accessorized, this is your definitive Mace Windu (Jedi Master) 1:6 Scale Figure. But make sure you get the exclusive version because you’ll want that severed Jango Fett head to complete his Episode II look. We’ll go into this exclusive accessory more in a moment. Mace Windu (Jedi Master) is a great reason to start collecting the 1:6 Scale Figures line. It shines from head to toe and proves why Sideshow Collectibles should be proud of their products.

Mace Windu utilizes the tall Art S. Buck body type. He’s loaded with accessories including the communicator, the functional belt with opening pouches and multiple lightsabers and lightsaber hilts (so Episode I, Episode II and Episode III are all covered). An Episode III specific hand attachment is also included: the severed stump courtesy of betraying Anakin Skywalker. Sideshow Collectibles packed many items into this 1:6 Scale Figure and it is extremely awesome that you can display him in any of his three Prequel Trilogy configurations. His outfit is nicely done. Even if you’re not crazy about the Art S. Buck body type (we possess a mediocre opinion of it), you have to admit that the reason to get these figures are for the excellent likenesses the portraits have as well as the stunningly well-tailored outfit that accompany the standard body form. Mace Windu comes with his signature tan outer garments and his white pants and cordovan colored boots. The standard-looking Jedi outer robe complements his other threads beautifully and they all are fitted without looking baggy at all. The pants bunch up at the top of his boots (which is perfect) and the layered sleeves don’t protrude out from the outer robe. This is flawless design and we are so thankful that Sideshow Collectibles is committed to getting things like this correct on the very first try.

A benefit to the Art S. Buck tall body type is that the arms aren’t too long and they look very proportionate on the figure. Mace Windu’s arms do not droop down to the ground like the short bodied Art S. Bucks body types seemingly do. But the Art S. Buck body type still suffers in the shoulders and hips and we will say this until it gets remedied. Instead of working independently, they are almost dependent upon each other and when you move one, the other moves too. It’s an annoying feature that needs to go as soon as possible. While you’ll likely want to choose to display this figure and leave it alone, trying to get it in the exact way you want to is possible, but you may run into a few issues here and there because of they ways the left and right sides interact with each other. Still, when fully assembled, we believe that Mace Windu (Jedi Master) is one of Sideshow Collectibles’ finest efforts on a human Star Wars character. It quite honestly looks fantastic on display and the included accessories just complement the figure is an almost codependent way. (The figure would not be the same without them.) Exclusive collectors are treated to the now infamous “severed Jango Fett head” accessory. We believe that this is the only version of mace Windu you should be trying to seek for your collection. This accessory alone brings this figure to new and exciting levels. Limited to 1750 pieces, it may be possible to attain one for your collection. Otherwise, you have 7500 other options to grab the general release version. Mace Windu (Jedi Master) may not be 100% perfect, but he is pretty darn close.
