Jedi Knight Kyle Katarn and New Republic agent Jan Ors help Imperial officer Pallin free a group of people on Ord Sedra who have been enslaved by the Yuuzhan Vong. But the flimsy cells in which the Yuuzhan Vong have been placed may not be strong enough to hold these cruel conquerors until morning.

Fans of the Expanded Universe know that Yuuzhan Vong refers to the species and not a proper name, sort of like the convention for Ugnaughts and Tusken Raiders. But even if you aren't a fan of these excellent stories, you can't deny just how massive and impressive this action figure turned out. Per multiple EU sources, the Yuuzhan Vong is part of a primitive culture since they believed that technology was nearly blasphemous to their ancient cultural standards and beliefs. Ironically, their moral compass governed by their polytheistic religion wasn't led by peace and they were a very hostile and violent species. Despite being very humanoid in form, they were actually quite a bit larger than the average human. The various characteristics of this impressive Expanded Universe character has been translated into action figure form very well by Hasbro. We believe that fans of the Yuuzhan Vong are going to count themselves very lucky. He is intricately detailed beyond belief. Every spike on his armor is well replicated and his coloring is very faithful to his varied appearances in EU folklore. And did we mention his size yet? This is another action figure that will unlikely befit a basic card back, so don't hesitate if you're on the fence. It would be a travesty to pass on this figure. Even those who are only fans of the movies should be able to see the greatness of this figure.

Yuuzhan Vong is an exceptional action figure! He has a most impressive range of articulation and magnificently sculpted armor. Hasbro has colored the armor a bronzy brown and the final product is just stunning. The details the sculptors captured on this figure is nothing short of amazing and the success they achieved is brilliant. The backside of the armor imitates the contoured shape of a spine while the rest of it is reminiscent of a knight's uniform. His hands are also excellently sculpted. They are large and imposing and appear as if they could do a significant amount of damage without much effort. Not only is the color palette beautiful, but Hasbro has also given it a final finish to make it appear as if it has a 'lived in' look. There is a dark wash applied that clings to all the nooks and crannies of the armor creating a beautiful texture (and as a result realistically creates battle-damage and every day "wear and tear" detailed markings). His costume certainly makes up for any shortcomings the figure may have. We don't think he really has any issues, but we will comment that the likeness of the head is not up to the same level as the rest of his frame. It is still however quite good. Yuuzhan Vong has a "bat demon" portrait that is quite alarming and will quickly strike fear in your other action figures. He comes with a battle staff that is also excellently sculpted and has some unknown beast head sculpted on the top of it. It is a really cool accessory nonetheless.

We are slightly disappointed with the Kyle Katarn figure. He is a significant upgrade from his POTF2 incarnation, but he still is a bit off from his likeness in the comics. His Han Solo-esque qualities definitely make him a cool character, but we think Hasbro could have gone a bit further to perfect him. He is articulated in a respectable manner and in our opinion comes with enough articulation. There are no funky ankle joints detracting from his very well-sculpted frame. He has a functioning holster that secures his blaster very well and he also comes equipped with a blue lightsaber. It looks to be a unique hilt, but with all the lightsabers that are out there now, our memory may be a little muddled. While he has many positive aspects to him, he unfortunately has a very awkward stance that makes posing him very difficult. And when you finally are able to balance him, he has to be kept in that action stance and has no other options for setting him up in your collection. Overall, this is probably the best Comic Packs set so far in the red phase of the Legacy Collection. With the first wave released there have been multiple repacks and technically only three new sets. The repacks have been very poor choices in our opinion, but the new sets have saved face for this sub-line. Of course it may be too early to judge, but we think the Comic Packs line has good potential. We really do look forward to what is coming down the pike. We just hope that the repacks don’t clog the flow of new product.
