Clone troopers fight battle droids to destroy a Separatist weapons factory. ARF trooper Waxer scouts ahead to gather information about the enemy. He runs into a squad of battle droids and stops these robotic warriors before they reveal his position.
Hasbro really did us good with the release of the 2011 exclusive two-packs based on the Landing At Point Rain The Clone Wars episode. Immediately striking a chord with fans, the unique clone trooper styled armored was so unique that it surprised collectors initially but soon became popular beyond belief. Hasbro has felt the success of these clone troopers as pretty much every figure or multipack that are based on this group of clone soldiers has sold very well at retail. So it only made sense that it was time to get multipacks out that helped fans quickly army build characters from this great and exciting storyline. Between 2010's TCW [SOTDS] Flamethrower Clone Trooper (CW26) figure and 2010's TCW [SOTDS] AT-RT With ARF Trooper Boil Deluxe/Class I set, we are all getting great opportunity to build this clone battalion. The ARF Trooper Waxer And Battle Droid TARGET exclusive two-pack may not be as exciting as the Special Ops Clone Trooper And Geonosian Drone duo shipping alongside this set, but it does hold its own as a very well put together set.
For this two-pack, Hasbro tweaks the paint job on the previously released 2010 TCW [SOTDS] AT-RT With ARF Trooper Boil figure to make is specific to Waxer of course (the most notable difference between Boil and Waxer is that Waxer has a yellow stripe down the top middle of his helmet on top of the camouflage pattern. He comes with a heavy assault rifle as well as a blaster rifle. He has the standard ARF Trooper body type so you already know what to expect there and that’s glorious super-articulation. You can configure Waxer in just about any pose you wish. And we have shown his capabilities pretty clearly in our photo gallery. Be sure to check out what he can do. You can also decide to use your own imagination to come up with even cooloer poses if you so choose. You'll find that this figure has a great deal to offer. Waxer’s coloring is vibrant and rich and we’re so impressed with all the members of this battalion. There are vaguely familiar, yet hold their own very well. Oh, and there is a painting of Numa on the back of his helmet. Pretty cool, right?
The Battle Droid is nothing new . Besides being repainted, there are no additional tweaks made and Hasbro still continues to use the original 2008 TCW [F/S1] Battle Droid (No. 7) sculpt from the original The Clone Wars line. As you know, the legs on this figure do not bend at the knees, so it is very difficult to pose them. We wish Hasbro would retire this sculpt and develop and all-new super-articulated Battle Droid figure. Perhaps this will happen once they release this sculpt a few more times to make their tooling costs pay off big for them. But despite having an inferior sculpt, the Battle Droid has been painted very nicely. This droid has a unique paint job and to date is only available in this two-pack. So between both exclusive TARGET sets, you are getting four new figures. Not bad at all! It will be interesting is Hasbro finds a way to release additional sets in the future. A “screen scene” of sorts, the Hasbro’s methodology in making these sets is flawless and the figures are incredibly well done. We think they are totally worth your time. A great couple of figures are found here that you'll likely not find elsewhere.
