Isn’t wonderful when we get something in the 1:6 Scale Figure line that we probably won’t ever get in Hasbro’s 3.75” line? To be fair, The Legacy Collection gave us some wonderful Chalmun’s Cantina “stuff” for our collections. Things that come readily to mind are the the amazing aliens including Trinto Duaba & Dice Ibegon as well as Pons Limbic. And even 2009's TLC Pons Limbic (BD 35) came with the “almost canceled” table that Sideshow Collectibles has now also developed for their 1:6 Scale Figure line. But we doubt we will ever see the leather chairs that accompany the table in Hasbro’s line, so Sideshow’s will have to do. Of course Sideshow’s interpretation is a heck of a lot better simply due to the increased scale anyway. And the table even comes with a light-up lamp and three glasses full of assorted colored space booze. Collectors can see all the fine details that have been crafted into this environment and it is incredible to finally have it for the 1:6 Scale Figure scale like the crevices of the rotund table. So what’s exciting here is that Sideshow also throws in the two brown leather chairs that accompanied the table so that lucky collectors could reenact the memorable scene of Han shooting Greedo first. (Ahem.)

Many people who collect Sideshow Collectibles’ high quality 1:6 Scale Figure don’t necessarily collect the 1:6 Scale Figure Environments. But more affordable sets like the Mos Eisley Cantina are a great reason to get started. As usual, these items are manufactured from high-quality polystone. Interestingly, the feel of the chairs is more reminiscent of a wood than a polystone in our opinion. They are somewhat hollow, yet they have a heaviness to them that confirms that they aren’t cheaply made. The paint jobs on all three pieces is quite spectacular. All have a believable worn-in look to them and Sideshow Collectibles is notorious for recreating believable battle-damage and everyday wear and tear on their pieces. They held nothing back here at all either. We are quite impressed. You’ll find instances of “splattered mud” and “dirt collections” on various portions of the chairs and while the table is relatively clean for the most part, it too has some obvious collection of dust on it as well. The three glasses are all uniform but each have a different color liquid in them: pink, green and navy blue. The prototype that was initially shown had a glass with baby blue liquid in it, but it seem that Sideshow abandoned that concept so we didn’t confuse it with “blue milk”.

The light that has been installed in the center of the table looks just like a gumdrop. But they all looked like this in the cantina. Despite its comical shape, it gives off a very powerful light that illuminates a nice section of surface area if you choose to turn off the surrounding lights. The intent of the table light is just to provide a dark ambience in the cantina, but collectors love electronics in their collectibles. And when they look this good, we have to agree that this was the right direction to take. It just looks fantastic. This set was meant to accompany the 1:6 Scale Figure Greedo figure and should have released at the same time. But with manufacturing things in continents far, far away, it’s hard to exactly gauge when products will reach completion. As a result, the Mos Eisley Cantina 1:6 Scale Figure Environment shipped almost an entire month before the 1:6 Scale Greedo figure did. But all is still well in the Star Wars universe because more time in between pricy collectibles certainly allows some healing time for constant wallet purchases. The Mos Eisley Cantina is beautifully done and Sideshow Collectibles deserves kudos for doing it right. We would like to see a reduced price however. $89.99 is a lot of money for these three pieces and no matter how well they’re done, price needs to be fair. Other than that, this expansion set is a true beauty!
