Celebrate the legendary Star Wars saga that changed the universe forever! This collection brings to life the incredible story of good versus evil that captured our imagination and took us to a galaxy far, far away. Iconic Star Wars heroes and villains are captured with incredible detail and premium features to commemorate each epic tale in the Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you!

Many collectors designate The Vintage Collection’s Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]) as the “apology” figure. For years, Hasbro desperately tried to create a collector-friendly version of Luke Skywalker in his Jedi Knight gear, and for one reason or another, the figures fell short. The previous figures didn’t meet expectations for a multitude of reasons. Poor likenesses, "dreadful" paint operations, inferior articulation, incomplete pieces of the outfit, and repetition made them all specimens that collectors easily criticized. Originally released as Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit), Hasbro quickly revised the name of the figure to Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) because it more accurately reflects the transition of his outfit at this point in the film. Hasbro tirelessly comes up with new ways to revisit this version of Luke Skywalker. Slight changes in the outfit exist from scene to scene. Because of these outfit changes, it allows for a proverbial cash cow for Hasbro. With each derivation, Hasbro did their best to create sculpts that would please fans. As good as many were, there was always a feeling left inside of collectors wanting more from the figures they produced. Hasbro created a fine version of Luke Skywalker from the third act of Return Of The Jedi, and we love how it turned out. It’s not a “complete” version of “Jedi Knight” Luke Skywalker, but it does offer collectors an excellent version of the character. This release does not represent Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit). It’s a different iteration of Luke from Episode VI. Supposedly a more-complete Luke Skywalker is coming “down the road” at some point and will contain all of the parts not included here. We encourage you to look at this figure as the Death Star II Luke Skywalker instead. (Editor's Note: Hasbro released 2012’s TVC Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Construction) (VC87) as the “Jedi Knight” figure with a twist and is based on a deleted scene where Luke Skywalker builds his green-bladed lightsaber.)

Hasbro showed the prototype of this figure at 2010's San Diego Comic-Con, and collectors grew immediately concerned over Luke’s portrait. Believe it or not, we all had a good cause for concern back then. It didn’t look that much like Luke, and we became frustrated because they went so far designing a significantly upgraded body for the figure. Thankfully, our fears can be alleviated because the final production figure is spectacular. Never satisfied, we already hear whispers that some collectors are not thoroughly impressed with this figure, but we are just as disappointed to hear about the complaints. In our opinion, Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]) is the best Episode VI Luke portrait Hasbro tooled to date. And what makes it better is that it is very reminiscent of the vintage figure’s head but better, of course! We brag about a figure when its proportions impress us. But when it comes to Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]), we go from impressed to “it-knocked-our-socks-off” very quickly. Luke has amazing balance, and you can easily pose the figure in a variety of ways thanks to its impressive and marvelous articulation. The figure’s physique is lean and athletic, and its frame possesses the most perfect of proportions, both in width and in height. Because the figure can attain any configuration you desire, this version of Luke Skywalker will easily transform into any “Luke Jedi” version you’re looking to achieve. All you need is a little bit of creative thinking and some borrowed parts from other figures. We all have tons of Luke Skywalker action figures already with accessories to utilize with this figure, so be sure to take full advantage of the arsenal of parts available to you. At some angles, we feel we are staring directly into Mark Hamill’s eyes. Then at other angles, we don’t feel that way. Still, we're impressed with Hasbro's design of Luke's head sculpt, and we’d be surprised if there are that many people who are not crazy about it. Loaded with premium articulation, Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]) is undoubtedly the consummate version of this character from Return Of The Jedi.

Blessed with a stunning 26 points of articulation including mostly premium ball-jointed articulation points, Luke Skywalker is a figure you’re going to enjoy thoroughly. Hasbro ensured that the enhanced points of articulation interact with the figure's parts flawlessly. The ingenious design of this action figure enthralls and thrills us. Not present on this release are disproportionate features like a barreled chest or annoying prepositioned limbs. And there are no gimmicky features like an alternate interchangeable chest plug to show his shirt up or folded down. Moderately accessorized, Luke comes with a lightsaber, a lightsaber hilt, and binders. All of these accessories are scene-specific to his face to face encounter with Darth Vader on Endor. You'll be interested to know that there are two versions of this figure. One comes with a hole in its belt and a plug on the lightsaber hilt so it can plug into the belt. The other version comes without the hole in the belt and a lightsaber hilt without a plug. Also, the hair color is different between these variations as well. The first version without the hole in the belt has a lighter color of hair; the updated version has richly colored blond hair and darker streaks. Comparison shots exist in our Photo Gallery. There is also a new date stamp on the figure with the lightsaber hole as well. All collectors are chomping at the bit to see Hasbro take Luke Skywalker to the next level and create a definitive version of Luke’s entire Jedi Knight outfit. But that doesn’t mean that this figure cannot be enjoyed to the fullest right now. Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]) is worth your money. We suggest getting a few copies of the figure and utilize the soft-goods and accessories from other figures to make some new versions of Luke. Luke Skywalker from 2009’s LC Battle For Endor Battle Packs set or 2007’s TAC Luke Skywalker (30 25) figure are great starts. Do whatever you need to do to get this version of Luke up to snuff for your collection. We’ll take him as is and adore him as is. We suggest you follow suit. Hasbro reissued this figure in 2019 with a new name, “photorealistic” technology, and a few other updates.

Editor's Note: Hasbro re-released The Vintage Collection Luke Skywalker (Endor [Endor Capture/Jedi Knight Outfit]) (VC23) in March 2019 with a significant number of changes. Updates include: (1) "photorealistic" deco, (2) a repainted Jedi Knight outfit with a flat black matte finish, (3) a slightly paler lightsaber blade (4) new date stamp in white paint on the figure's butt, (5) refreshed 2019 packaging with different graphics, (6) revised name

Review Status Update: The original publication date of this review is November 20, 2010. It was subsequently updated with a new Photo Gallery and revised General Analysis and republished on March 24, 2019 after Hasbro reissued the figure.
