A clone trooper uses a flamethrower to fight Geonosian drones. The trooper's squad is battling their way through a cave to reach the rest of the Republic invasion force. Their mission is to wipe out a droid factory manufacturing powerful new weapons. The clone trooper aims his flamethrower at the attacking drones to clear his path.

Hasbro can't wait to reuse a mold to make a new Star Wars action figure it sure seems! That's exactly what they did for the totally awesome Flamethrower Clone Trooper from the exciting Landing At Point Rain episode from The Clone Wars. These tough and fire-wielding clone troopers look bad and act bad in The Clone Wars television series as they fight the Geonosian drones . As they attempt to annihilate a droid factory on Geonosis, they are bombarded by the hive of drones trying to stop them in their tracks. But the clones utilize their flamethrowers to tear through the blockade to see their mission gets completed. Hasbro did a really great job on the Flamethrower Clone Trooper. He's technically not anything new for collectors as he is an older figure that is essentially repainted and comes with a few new parts, but it's how far Hasbro went with an existing sculpt that makes this figure extra special. Hasbro certainly has been very lucky with having the luxury to use and reuse sculpts over and over again. It's kind of hard to hear them complain about tooling costs when we keep seeing them same "old" sculpts getting reworked time and again. And we aren't being sarcastic here. We think it's awesome that they can crank out so many figures because of this. (And we hope the figures keep coming at the same frequency.)

Flamethrower Clone Trooper is essentially a very colorful rework of 2010's TCW [S2] Captain Rex (CW50) figure. When looking at Captain Rex next to Flamethrower Clone Trooper, the white has been replaced with some bizarre shade of pink (or pale mauve) and the blue color flashes have sort of been replaced with yellow (but different designs of course). And Flamethrower Clone Trooper has additional burgundy details throughout its body. It is a very striking figure and we are perplexed that his color palette works despite the awkward combinations of colors that typically shouldn't work that well together. The Flamethrower Clone Trooper however has a soft-goods kama in place of the soft plastic one that Captain Rex came with and the soft-goods one looks so much better in our opinion. It has been sewn in a fabric that is a similar color to the burgundy details on the figure and Hasbro has managed to outline its edges in a golden yellow that immediately draws your eyes to it. It looks pretty cool. Flamethrower Clone Trooper comes with the same backpack as Captain Rex also but comes with a lot of new "first time available" accessories. The flamethrower gun and flames work well together but are very heavy and it is very difficult to make this figure stand up without the use of the included stand.

In the episode Landing At Point Rain, there are other clones in the same color theme as the Flamethrower Clone Trooper. Also in the episode you can see an ARF Trooper styled clone as well as an all-new styled clone that we have yet to see as an action figure yet. Hasbro has uttered during a Q&A session that they hope to make the others shortly. We can't wait because the three of them together will look awesome together. We know that repaints will be an inevitable choice for Hasbro but it is really worthwhile to collectors when the repaint looks so strikingly different from the base figure. There will be more and more coming down the road as more and more clone trooper styles get made. And if Hasbro keeps this momentum up, we should be getting quite a plethora of clone troopers into our collections. Flamethrower Clone Trooper is first and foremost a unique clone and he stands out from all the other released to date. And the cool thing is that is that this clone could pass as a precursor to the Galactic Marines seen in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, colors and all! It is really cool when we see the gaps get bridged in the basic figure line. Flamethrower Clone Trooper looks cool, has awesome accessories and play features and has the distinction of being a style of clone trooper that should be new to many. You already know about the design of this figure if you have Captain Rex (CW50), but it is almost a brand new figure just by how beautifully Hasbro decorated him.
