Ki-Adi-Mundi is part of the massive attack to destroy a Geonosis factory churning out dangerous new battle droids. Damaged by enemy fire, the Jedi's transport crashes short of the designated landing point. As he pushes forward, Ki-Adi-Mundi and his squad enter a cave where they are attacked by Geonosian drones.

Ki-Adi-Mundi is the apparently the next Jedi to get morphed into animated style by Hasbro. If you're not a fan of The Clone Wars line, you may just be slightly surprised by how cool this version of Ki-Adi-Mundi actually is. Yes he has all of the exaggerated features of the CGI model we see in the television series, but you can immediately recognize not only his facial features but his outfit as one of our favorite Jedi from the prequels. He really doesn't differ that much from his appearances in the films. He isn't super-articulated, but comes with a generous 12 points to help you pose him in a plethora of ways. Hasbro gave Ki-Adi-Mundi primarily an all-plastic body, but they have included a soft-goods skirt with a well executed pleat in the front that gives this action figure a very respectable look. The inclusion of the soft-goods skirt will allow collectors to sit him down in a starfighter or in a Jedi council chair so that should make a lot of collectors happy. He lacks ball-jointed ankles and normally we would be alright with this, but we did experience some difficulty posing him without falling over and articulated would have certainly helped us out there. Still, this isn’t to say that we adore this figure. He has thin and narrow feet and legs which don't really help him standing issues, but Ki-Adi-Mundi is so well designed everywhere else that we can overlook this slight setback.

Hasbro did something very interesting with this action figure's paint job. To the naked eye, it doesn't look like Ki-Adi-Mundi has any wash on his skin, but he does. (You can see this detail in our photo gallery rather clearly.) His eyes have the trademark "pink" circles around them and he has the distinguishing cranium that is inherent in the Cerean species. Interestingly, the color plastic used to cast his head doesn't match the color of his hands too well. But this is a detail that we even noticed on Sideshow Collectibles' Ki-Adi-Mundi 1:6 Scale FIgure. So this must be an accurate detail that maybe we just overlooked. His head is ball-jointed but its range of motion is severely inhibited. We actually thought it was a swivel joint at first. That should give you indication of just how much the head moves around. His Jedi outfit is spot on and overall we must admit that it is cool to get an animated "screen accurate" version of Ki-Adi-Mundi. His left hand is rendered useless if you want to use it to hold anything. But the good news is that his fingers are pointed in a unique way almost as if he is trying to get the attention of one of his many clone troopers. But you'll have to rely on the left hand to do any lightsaber wielding. Ki-Adi-Mundi fits in beautifully with the rest of the action figures in the line, particularly the other Jedi like 2010's TCW [SOTDS] Kit Fisto (CW23) and 2009's TCW [S2] Luminara Unduli (CW30).

Hasbro has consistently and successfully knocked out a plethora of The Clone Wars figures so early in the 2010 product year. As of the release of Ki-Adi-Mundi and company, we're only a month into the new line look reset (officially) and there are already 28 figures in the line. Granted, many are repacks, but that will always be the way of life in Star Wars collecting. But the great news is that Hasbro is really pumping them out and each new wave has three or four new figures in it. At this rate, we'll have more animated figure than we'll know what to do with in our collections. Ki-Adi-Mundi easily became one of our favorite animated figures in The Clone Wars line already. We are particular fans of characters that have been in the movies that are realized in the television series collection. (And we are quickly attaining a large collection of movie-specific animated Star Wars characters too.) Ki-Adi-Mundi is definitely the best new figure (and actually the only technically all-new figure in wave 3 of The Clone Wars line). The other two figures are great but just don't compare to Ki-Adi-Mundi. If you love Jedi and you love The Clone Wars, Ki-Adi-Mundi is likely on your "to get" list. We suggest doing what you can to get him into your hands as soon as possible. We bet you'll be enamored of him at an alarming rate.
