Darth Sidious - TBS [P4] - Six Inch Figures (ROTS01)

The scheming Darth Sidious lived a double life as Palpatine, a Naboo Senator and phantom menace who manipulated the Galactic Republic's political system until he was named Supreme Chancellor.

Is it possible that Hasbro hasn’t released one figure from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith in The Black Series [Phase IV] lineup until now? Well, they’ve chosen an ideal character to open up this series. Based on the costume after Chancellor Palpatine, Darth Sidious transforms into Darth Sidious and battles Yoda in a fateful duel that changes the trajectory of the Jedi Order. The figure uses both old and new parts. Hasbro designed a spectacular portrait, although we feel it’s a bit too light and needs a darker wash to bring out the character’s personality a bit more. Darth Sidious comes with decent soft goods. However, we strongly feel that Hasbro did better with them in 2010’s TVC Darth Sidious (VC12) figure than in this release. We received plush fabric on the 3.75-inch super-articulated version. The materials used for the 6-inch figure feel lacking at best. The head can move underneath the hood, but the hood is permanently attached to the figure’s shoulders, so you cannot turn the hood left and right, much to our chagrin. However, you can move the head in the hood slightly, with some poses looking natural while others are wonky. Darth Sidious comes with a lightsaber accessory that breaks down into a hilt and blade. It’s designed well and fits into the figure’s hands well. We also get two interchangeable hands that are projecting Force lightning. They look great, and aside from the difficulty of removing the hands, they are a worthy addition. Of course, you’re limited to how many poses you can attain with the “Force lighting” hands. We hope Darth Sidious opens the door for more characters from Revenge Of The Sith in The Black Series 6-inch line. But I am sure they’re more concerned with making the barking and clapping seals happy with more Disney Star Wars characters instead.
