Boo! Hiss! Hasbro went about this set all wrong. And instead of getting new Hoth Rebel Troopers, we get a bevy of deck officers instead. Maybe you want some extra tauntaun handlers, but Hasbro didn’t produce these characters correctly, and we’ll explain it thoroughly. We all loved 2011’s/2021’s TVC Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Battle Gear) (VC68) figure. We loved it because they tooled a head wearing a hat, and everything was in perfect proportion. Hasbro should have followed suit with the four alternate head sculpts they created for this release. But what they did instead was to create a new cape and scarf accessory to fit over the new head sculpts. And as you might guess, they aren’t perfect fits for all the figures, and they look too big and clunky on most of them. Even worse, Hasbro included goggles with all four figures in this set, but they’re too small for the new cap/scarf piece and much too big to place on the figure’s unique portraits, so we have four useless accessories here. You may successfully squeeze them over the caps, but we were worried about breakage. What is nice, however, is that Hasbro included two strapless blaster rifles with these action figures. These are lovely additions but don’t go with the deck officer characters. To us, it’s evident that Hasbro was confused when culling together this set of action figures. It had so much potential, but Hasbro squandered it because they didn’t approach them correctly. Also, this may be one of our hang-ups, but the paint operations look off to us. These figures appear too pale, and some of the colors don’t match the costumes in The Empire Strikes Back. You may have different opinions about this. Hasbro included two Caucasian characters in this four-pack but also included a black character, and what appears to be a Latin character. We’re happy to see a fantastic set of different characters all fighting for the universal cause of the Rebel Alliance, but we strongly feel that Hasbro should have developed the action figures a little more carefully. This four-pack retails for $44.99, and yes, everything is going up under the Hasbro Star Wars brand, and it’s exclusive to Hasbro Pulse and Shop Disney.
