Obi-Wan Kenobi is set years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced the corruption of his friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Is it just us, or does it feel that Hasbro plans action figures by what tooling they have readily available instead of what specific characters they should be producing next regardless of tooling costs? To their credit, Hasbro did get out a couple of all-new 6-inch action figures to support the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, but it now feels like they are in fight or flight mode desperately trying to add new characters into The Black Series, but at the most negligible cost possible. We know repacks and repaints are necessary evils to procure tooling budgets, but Hasbro is adding too many of them into the format and much too soon, and it doesn’t feel like the line is as fresh as it should be lately. That said, Teeka (Jawa) interacts with Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney+ series. Although the Jawa stole some of Obi-Wan’s other equipment, Kenobi visits Teeka’s shop to get some parts needed to repair some items at his abode. Yes, Teeka (Jawa) is a sluggish effort by Hasbro. They didn’t need to do much to create this action figure, and it’s nothing more than a repaint with a new vest and bandolier combination piece. Oh, and you get some new accessories too. And, it’s more than a standard 6-inch figure, by a lot.

Teeka (Jawa) comes with inhibited articulation. It mimics the color palette of 1978’s SW Jawa figure and has a few new enhancements. However, some of the functionality on Teeka (Jawa) once again disappeared because they are reusing the same release. The ionization blaster is a pain in the butt to place in the figure’s hand properly, and the removable vest is nearly impossible without “boil and pop” because of how tightly it sits on the head joint. Despite its annoyances, the Jawa is a visually bright figure that stimulates the senses and will likely be a character you’ll want to add to your collection. Despite the encumbrance of the inner-molded robes, the Jawa is a decent action figure. It comes with a great sculpt with every attention to detail etched into its form. Just check out the burlap texture of the molded robes. The figure still maintains a “simple” paint job. Hasbro sacrificed some needed deco on this figure, but it certainly is passable as is. More dirt and that “lived-in look” is missing from this figure. The articulation system is familiar. And no one can criticize Hasbro for giving us premium articulation in the 6-inch action figures, especially a character as petite as a Jawa. You won’t be able to articulate most of the lower body, but the articulation system is there for those who want it in spirit.

When it comes to Jawas, each is unique from one another. Their heights vary, their outfits vary, and their weapons vary. Originally, Hasbro appeared to pick the best of all worlds here, making it as generic of a Jawa as possible with this tooling. But now, every Jawa is looking the same. What’s the point in doing something like this? This approach may work for a novelty figure like the anniversary-related Jawas but not for a specific character in a series. So, we feel it’s a shame they never branched out beyond one sculpt for the Jawa species. Hasbro has permanently attached the hood to the head in what we assume to be a concerted effort to keep the face/eyes perfectly centered at all times within the opening of it. There is no need to worry, however. Hasbro treated collectors to a full range of movement within the neck/head area, aside from some aesthetic issues (the break of the hood because of the separate head). Hasbro articulated the rest of the figure beautifully. Teeka (Jawa) is a costly Target-exclusive figure. If your local Target has a Disney “Shop” in it, you’ll find the Star Wars section there, and these stores always get stock first. We don’t feel it’s worth the money, but if you collect them all, you know what you’ll have to do.
