The Star Wars Retro Collection is inspired by 1970s STAR WARS figures and features original figure design and detailing! Continue your collection from the galaxy far, far away!

Hasbro attempted to recreate the approach Kenner took with the 1978 SW Stormtrooper action figure for the Imperial Death Trooper. It’s the only figure in the fifth wave of the line that doesn’t come with any head articulation. The head and body are one “fused’ part. Thanks to its simplicity, the Imperial Death Trooper looks the best in the entire lineup. Hasbro found a nice and shiny black plastic to cast the figure, then added green and silver details to give the figure some pronounced textures. The Imperial Death Trooper is taller than the other figures in the Retro Collection line, which makes sense since this is true in the different scales of the Hasbro Star Wars brand too. Hasbro recreated their signature blaster rifle, and they can hold it relatively well. But with the severe lack of articulation, there’s not much you can do to make this figure look interesting beyond a few static poses. This action figure gets boring fast, so you should probably know in advance that this is a background display piece and not much else. Hasbro used the same cart art from The Vintage Collection version on The Mandalorian entertainment logo. The packaging is attractive, but that also gets old fast since Hasbro added a “worn look” that’s identical across all figures in this line. It will be interesting to see how far Hasbro takes the Retro Collection. This line isn’t for everyone, and while 5POA is never OK when it pays homage to the classic vintage Kenner line, it’s something that will grab longtime collectors.
