A veteran of the Rebellion against the Empire, Trapper Wolf now serves as a pilot in the New Republic. He flies his X-wing as part of a squadron which patrols the outer reaches of the galaxy.

Did fans of The Mandalorian want to add an action figure based on Dave Filoni into their collections? We aren’t sure, but the Hasbro Pule exclusive Trapper Wolf might be one of the most boring figures added to The Black Series 6-inch line in recent memory. Hasbro didn’t think beyond the obvious when producing and designing this action figure. They took 2013’s The Black Series [Phase I] Luke Skywalker (#01) figure, literally the oldest figure in the entire line, added a new head sculpt, applied an all-new paint job, and created Trapper Wolf. It’s about as uninteresting as any random novelty character added to the Star Wars action figure line. Aside from hardcore fans of The Mandalorian Disney+ series, we’re unsure who else would want this action figure. Maybe general Disney Star Wars fans will show some interest. Trapper Wolf is a Hasbro pulse exclusive and has an MSRP set at a ridiculous $28.99. It’s packaged like a Deluxe figure, as evidenced by the larger-sized box, but it only comes with two accessories; a helmet and a blaster rifle. It’s not worth anywhere near its suggested retail price.

It’s rather remarkable that one of the first four The Black Series 6” figures Hasbro released is getting another take to develop a new character. The tooling looks better than ever, as it seems Hasbro used a different type of plastic to cast the parts. Thanks to enhanced Photo Real paint operations, Trapper Wolf looks excellent. While we think there is a slight resemblance to director Dave Filoni, we’re seeing a stronger resemblance to a plumper version of The Walking Dead actor Andrew Lincoln instead. While Hasbro made improvements to the deco, Trapper Wolf brings very little new to the action figure line. We thought that the design of 2013’s TBS [P1] Luke Skywalker (#01) figure was excellent. Compared to the current figures Hasbro produces, this one feels like it lacks. Trapper Wolf looks like a decent action figure between the paint operations and the final wash. It’s just not an exciting one. Perhaps Hasbro didn’t perfect all of the details of Dave Filoni in an action figure, but we believe collectors will think they did an admirable job overall. The details here are richly and cleanly applied. Thanks to the adjusted orange color change Hasbro made, the flight suit is also more accurate to the on-screen prop.

Trapper Wolf, unequivocally, can attain any position you want to display it. Hasbro loaded the figure with ball-jointed articulation, and the “life-saving” rocker ankles are unbelievably functional. They may work the hardest to give Trapper Wolf the free range of motion it deserves. These are premium points of articulation and do wonders for the action figure. This base figure set the stage for The Black Series 6-inch line in 2013, and it holds up adequately for the latest phase of The Black Series line. But the design is also becoming a tad obsolete. We accept that this action figure isn’t perfect, but this is probably the best we will get until Hasbro designs a new buck for the X-wing pilots. The straps hanging around his legs and the hose coming from the chest box look great. They’ve held up well because Hasbro revised the straps’ color. Also, the details like the maps on the left upper arm look good. The new deco on the helmet looks fantastic. You’ll find a wolf graphic on it that pays homage to the Wolfpack clones in The Clone Wars. But ultimately, do you want an action figure of Dave Filoni? That’s the first question you must answer.
