The harsh reality of his Imperial-occupied home world has hardened Baze Malbus into a pragmatic soldier and a crack shot with his heavy repeater cannon.

It’s entirely flabbergasting how lifelike 6-inch action figures become once Hasbro’s applied the Photo Real deco to them. It’s mind-blowing. Take a look at the re-released but heavily “edited” Baze Malbus action figure. It’s part of the Fan Channel exclusive wave that brings, for the first time, the complete six-member team of heroes from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There are some fantastic upgrades in this group of action figures. Still, Baze Malbus shines above the rest thanks to its exquisite precise paint operations that bring natural features to a plastic action figure. A side-by-side comparison of the original Baze Malbus next to the 2022 update will show you how differently Hasbro applied the deco this time. But you’ll also notice that Hasbro followed reference materials more carefully this time as they’ve matched the figure to screen accuracy, and the final figure is an impressive update. The first release was excellent, but it pales in comparison to this new version. We’re pretty happy that Hasbro decided to update all of these characters because many of the older versions looked terrible. You can’t say that about the newly released ones.

Baze Malbus enters the popular The Black Series [Phase IV] 6-inch line for the second time, and Hasbro holds nothing back. They developed a phenomenal sculpt, enhanced it with gorgeous paint operations, and worked in beautifully designed accessories. Unfortunately, the costume inhibits the excellent articulation system, but sometimes those sacrifices have to be made if Hasbro makes the most screen-accurate action figures possible. Despite Baze Malbus’s inhibited movement, we doubt that too many collectors out there will be disappointed by what this revised version of the action figure brings to The Black Series 6-inch line. Baze Malbus comes with the “old” standard 28 points of articulation that most Star Wars 6-inch figures had during this era. As mentioned, some of the figure’s movement becomes inhibited because of the pouches along the character’s waistline and the chest. It’s impossible to turn the torso left, but easy to turn it right. The same issue is present with the figure’s hips joints. You can’t spread them far apart from each other because, once again, the pouches that hang from the belt block the articulation. All is not lost, however. Hasbro perfectly recreated the costume, and it looks better than before, thanks to the new paint job.

Baze Malbus comes with the same heavy repeater cannon, which breaks down into three parts: the blaster rifle section, the ammunition canister with a cape (and functions as a backpack), and an ammunition belt that Hasbro cast in soft plastic so that it “gives” while you pose the action figure. Baze Malbus can hold the rifle portion with both hands. And you can use it separately as a gun by itself if you’re looking for a different appearance for this figure. Visually, Baze Malbus is the ideal 6-inch figure because the figure has a dynamic sculpt, gloriously stunning paint operations, and a generous amount of accessories. Accessories are a key for value in The Black Series 6-inch line. There is another accessory included, and it’s a “taser” device the character used against the stormtroopers in the film. Hasbro tooled another “hole” on the back along the belt for the taser when not in use. Another interesting bit of trivia surrounding the Baze Malbus 6-inch figure is its availability. It was one of the shortest packed figures in the 2017 lineup. But Hasbro got more out when they made a running change to the figure by casting its face in “skin colored” plastic instead of painting it that color. It is this running change that Hasbro updated further with Photo Real.
