Moff Gideon - TBS [CC] - Six Inch Figures (Exclusive)

This distinctive collection features premium deco applications inspired by the end credit images from The Mandalorian, plus a collectible Galactic Credit accessory. After the fall of the Galactic Empire, usage of their form of money, Imperial Credits, became less common, with many planets refusing payments in the currency on principle.

There are five “wave 2” Credit Collection action figures for The Black Series 6-inch action figure line. This colorful arrangement of action figures is something collectors appear to like or loathe. Reminiscent of the earliest Marvel Star Wars comics where characters wore bright colors, there is a nostalgia in this line that many appreciate. With supply chain delays and issues, products from Hasbro are arriving all over the map. But in January 2022, they managed to get a plethora of products from The Vintage Collection and The Black Series lines, which is a relief for most collectors. From the Credit Collection, Moff Gideon is one of the figures to make it out of the supply chain and into collectors’ hands. Based on concept art from The Mandalorian, the figure captures the spirit of Moff Gideon but with a more colorful palette. The figure is brighter than the artwork, but that’s the whole point of this line. Hasbro loves to repaint their action figures, so we can probably expect another wave of Credit Collection action figures sometime in the future. Based on the ending credits artwork they show after every episode, the Moff Gideon “Credit Collection” action figure offers collectors an artistic take at a favorite character from the Disney+ series.

Many 6-inch collectors complain about the constant repaints in the line of late, but we must confess that we now find charm in these action figures. Still, Hasbro needs to maintain balance. It’s expected that there will be many more repaints in 2022 for The Black Series 6-inch lineup. Hasbro has overspent the tooling budget, and now they have to find multiple ways to amortize costs to keep within the containment of the line. But 6-inch collectors are feeling the sting of repetition now. Let’s take a closer look at Moff Gideon from the Credit Collection line. There is something to appreciate here. The Black Series [Phase IV] interpretation of Moff Gideon is excellent, so the same is true for the Credit Collection variation. A phenomenon exists that some characters, by the nature of their likenesses, are easier to capture in action figure form than others. No one can seem to explain this, but the trend exists. Moff Gideon follows suit. Moff Gideon is a mixture of Darth Vader, a TIE fighter pilot, and an Imperial Officer. Hasbro cobbled together this character’s outfit beautifully, and Hasbro translated all of the details well into toy form. Collectors were thrilled to get the original version of Moff Gideon in the line, and it’s fantastic to get this version as well.

Giancarlo Esposito plays an excellent villain, and the actor’s significant role in The Mandalorian feels like a perfect choice for the actor. The relatively flawless actor portrays a wide range of characters on the big and small screen, and Star Wars fans can count themselves fortunate that he’s part of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Hasbro accessorized Moff Gideon nicely. The figure comes with a molded and removable cape in new colors. The outer portion of the cape is blue this time, while the lining is still deep blood red. There is a small hole in the back of the Moff Gideon action figure and a plug on the cape’s end. The cape stays in place nicely, whether you pose the figure statically or have it some action pose. Hasbro also tooled a functioning holster on the right side of Moff Gideon’s belt. The figure comes with a small blaster pistol, and it stays in place firmly when not in use. Moff Gideon’s right hand also accommodates the blaster pistol perfectly. Hasbro also included the figure’s darksaber sword. It’s delicately and beautifully designed with a transparent edging, giving it a glowing effect. Lastly, Hasbro added a gold Galactic Credit to this figure, and it’s this figure’s exclusive.
