The Star Wars Retro Collection is inspired by the 1980s STAR WARS figures and features original figure design and detailing! Continue your collection from the galaxy far, far away!

There is a lot of anticipation from collectors who want toys based on The Mandalorian. Hasbro is severely behind the eightball because the action figures are late, and they are falling further and further behind as times moved ahead. The Mandalorian action figures are also inconsistent. Hasbro ensured they got out The Black Series 6” versions of the characters in record time. Now, Hasbro is double-dipping the characters in the 3.75-inch range for both The Vintage Collection and the Retro Collection. It feels like the merchandising for The Mandalorian is getting a little tepid. Moff Gideon might be the single disappointment in the Retro Collection. We think it doesn’t look like the on-screen character all that much. And the accessories included here are a bit humorous. It comes with a removable vinyl cape. Underneath is unprecedented detail in a 5POA figure. You’ll find both shiny and dull paint operations creating a pattern throughout the body of the figure. The lines are clean, and the colors are exact. To pay homage to the “real” vintage Kenner line, Hasbro resurrected the lightsaber accessory that came with the 1980 ESB Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) and 1983 ROTJ Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit) figures and colored it gray to serve as Moff Gideon’s darksaber. It’s an interesting take on the weapon, but it works in a very nostalgic way. The Mandalorian Retro Collection wave is decent. It’s not nearly as exciting as a wave of figures based on the original Kenner line, but we feel that it’s timely because it supports a series that’s doing incredibly well on Disney+.
