In a galaxy far, far away, an evil force is gaining strength and threatens an entire civilization.

A wise and powerful Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn discovers young Anakin Skywalker, providing to be a pivotal event to the entire galaxy.

Commemorate the first 50 years of Lucasfilm with figures inspired by the Star Wars prequel trilogy!

It's another sad day for Star Wars collectors. Hasbro relegated the best-looking version of a Star Wars action figure to an exclusive retail release. How many of you out there remember 2017's The Black Series [Phase III] Qui-Gon Jinn (40) 6" figure? It came with creepy, separately molded eyeballs, which was advantageous at its release, but ultimately failed as far as screen-accurate aesthetics are concerned. Now, Hasbro decided to reissue this figure with a few changes. They retooled the portrait to remove the eyeball thing, added some Photo Real deco, and repainted the figure to create a precisely screen-accurate interpretation of the majestic Jedi Master from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Part of The Black Series [Lucasfilm 50] anniversary lineup, Qui-Gon Jinn joins three other characters from Episode I. They come packaged in large, replica Episode I packaging from 1999 and 2000 to celebrate the company's five-decade celebration that brought us the incredible Star Wars movies. Qui-Gon Jinn and company are all exclusive to Best Buy. And a few of them come with fewer accessories this time. However, most are five dollars more than the standard 6" figure. What's up with that? But we're happy to see that Hasbro upgraded the older sculpts, but some others, like Jar Jar Binks, are hanging on pegs for less than this anniversary version's cost.

Qui-Gon Jinn's original sculpt was rather excellent when released in 2017. It looks better than ever now, thanks to the enhancements it received in 2021. As we've already stated, the head sculpt with the new eye approach was a bold move forward in the line. But it didn't hold up well, and we're happy to see Hasbro revert to how they usually produce these figures' portraits. Now, Qui-Gon Jinn is over the top in quality. We don't believe we have seen a better action figure interpretation of Qui-Gon Jinn than this release. It makes the previous version pale in comparison, and the pun is intended. The skin tone of the first figure was awful and inaccurate. Hasbro corrected the figure's fairness with this release. Although lacking in accessories, Qui-Gon Jinn now has a definitive sculpt, the same outstanding articulation, and a new and accurate paint job that solidifies this as one of Hasbro's finest moments in the 6" figure line. Collectors shouldn't overlook the finest of details in this sculpt. The boots, the lower skirt (as well as its functionality) prove that Hasbro knows what they are doing when making quality Star War action figures. Just check out the back of the head and witness the grain of the hair and the tie that separate it into three distinct sections.

It feels as if there aren't too many people currently collecting are huge fans of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, but hopefully, this figure will counteract that. Hasbro captured Qui-Gon's primary concerned/pensive expression beautifully here. This rather scene-agnostic expression will work across many different diorama displays in which you wish to place him. What might set you back, however, is the lack of a soft-goods robe. We have to state it's unacceptable and disappointing that the Jedi in The Black Series 6" line don't come with the much-needed outwear. Hasbro also omitted the interchangeable left hand. We're disappointed to see Hasbro neglect this detail, too, as extra interchangeable body parts are a rarity in the 6" line today. Qui-Gon's lightsaber breaks down into a hilt and blade, and they've mastered producing the lightsabers 6" line. They look better than ever. We don't think they're entirely perfect yet, but they look a whole heck of a lot better than the ones from the past. We feel that Hasbro's Qui-Gon Jinn in Episode I-inspired packaging turned out better than anticipated from a packaging perspective. We're happy to see this re-released figure. It's so much better than the original that it's not even a contest.
