An assassin trained in the ways of the dark side by Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress yearned to be considered a true Sith, but such status asn't allowed under the Sith's Rule of Two.

It’s a bit difficult to process how long Hasbro waited to bring Asajj Ventress into The Black Series 6” line. But 2021 is the year it happened, and Hasbro created an admirable action figure. The beloved Asajj Ventress has close ties to Count Dooku. She was featured in The Clone Wars film in 2008, but she made her debut in Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars micro-series, where her character was scarier and more intimidating than what we saw in Filon’s interpretation of The Clone Wars. Regardless, Asajj Ventress is a beloved Star Wars character, and Hasbro designed the Sith apprentice based on her appearance in The Clone Wars film and television series. They borrowed some previously existing parts, but Asajj Ventress is mostly new. Hasbro recreated the portrait and costuming perfectly, and the figure is gorgeous. The Photo Real is exceptionally lifelike and faithfully portrays the character in realistic form, even though we know Asajj Ventress best as an animated character. We hope collectors of the 6” line appreciate these novelty additions like Asajj Ventress. The action figure is a work of art. Longtime 3.75” super-articulated collectors are still waiting for a realistic interpretation of this fan-favorite The Clone Wars personality.

Asajj Ventress is a kit-bashed figure that utilizes the legs of 2020’s TBS [P4] Rey (Dark Side Vision) (TROS01) figure. The rest of the figure is all-new. Thanks to the lush and plush purple soft-goods skirt, most collectors may not realize Hasbro reused parts of the previously existing Rey figure. Asajj Ventress has a ton of smooth articulation that allows you to pose the figure as you see fit. The articulation system is near-perfect and not too much inhibits the figure’s movement. However, one area, the tabard which hangs down the figure’s front, is too long and rigid. And if you spread the legs of Asajj Ventress too far apart, the tabard hits the ground and forces the figure to float above it. We wish Hasbro used a soft-goods material to create this detail. Because it does limit how many poses you have for the lower body. Another setback is the belt and where the hilts attach. There are plugs on the hilts intended to plug into two separate ports on the belt. The plugs’ sizes are different, so it appears as if the hilts are each designed for a specific hole. But we tried and tried and nearly cramped up our thumbs trying to get them to attach as intended. We used “magic” to make them stay in place for our photoshoot. Let us know in the comments if you experience greater success.

The curved hilts are incredibly detailed and feature thick black rings around them from top to bottom. The two hilts also interconnect to create a double-bladed lightsaber like Darth Maul’s. Hasbro included two lightsaber blades to add into the hilts or not, depending upon your display scene. Asajj Ventress holds onto the lightsabers well. Hasbro designed the hands to accommodate them perfectly. Whether wielding from the front or behind, Asajj Ventress looks like a Master of the dark side of the Force. We’re thrilled to see such a beautiful interpretation of the character in the 6” line. Now that Hasbro opened the can of worms with The Clone Wars main character, like Asajj Ventress, we now need many others produced in The Black Series 6” line as well. Think of all of the main characters with The Clone Wars-specific costuming and need new tooling for Hasbro to release them. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu would all be candidates for these tweaks and revisions to make them specific to The Clone Wars. Succinctly put, Hasbro has a lot of work to do. They will forever be playing catch-up, trying to complete story arcs for The Clone Wars. While we wait, enjoy this figure because it’s gorgeous.
