Kanan Jarrus survived the Emperor's purge, going underground for years and hiding the truth about the Jedi he really was. He was a leader among the Ghost crew and, with the emergence of the Force-sensitive Ezra, once again embraced his identity as a Jedi Knight.

Hasbro changed the packaging for The Black Series 6” line. Borrowing cues and approaches from the popular The Saga Collection line, Hasbro arranged The Black Series [Phase IV] Star Wars figures by source and color-coded for an organized (and colorful) revised line look. To launch the new The Black Series [Phase IV] line, Hasbro created an unofficial “first” wave of figures, all Fan Channel exclusives, of the characters from Star Wars Rebels. They were updated with Photo Real deco where possible and revised color palettes for better accuracy. The Ghost crew and Ahsoka Tano get another chance at retail, which is terrific since many of them were climbing high in price on the secondary market. The new packaging is fantastic. Each Star Wars source is assigned a select color. For Star Wars Rebels, it’s purple. And the purple color flashes do wonders for the mostly black, gray, and white box. Back to the figure, Kanan Jarrus received the Photo Real updating, and it makes the sculpt look phenomenal. And then Hasbro also updated the colors throughout the figure. The side by side comparison in our Photo Gallery will show you everything that Hasbro updated to make Kanan Jarrus appear as screen-accurate as possible. Not everyone’s favorite character in Star Wars Rebels, Kanan Jarrus, still has a strong following. It’s the reason the character received so many released in the Star Wars action figure line.

There is no denying that Kanan Jarrus is a stunning action figure. The figure looked excellent in 2016. It looks fantastic in 2020 with enhanced paint operations. Hasbro has come so far in the 6” scale, and Kanan Jarrus is an undeniable testament to how far they’ve come since their early days in 2013. The original version of Kanan Jarrus had a few insignificant, but unfortunate deco issues, but they all appear resolved on the latest updated release. There is little lower body movement issues because of the holster, but other than that, Kanan Jarrus is a triumphant success in The Black Series [Phase IV] lineup. We appreciate that Hasbro gave all the Star Wars Rebels characters another chance at retail through the Fan Channel. Looking at these figures a second time helps us understand how much work went into the figures. But it also reminds how painful it is not to have them in a realistic and super-articulated 3.75” scale. Let’s take a closer look at the figure’s articulation. Kanan Jarrus has the standard articulation of most The Black Series 6” action figures. This includes swivel thighs and double hinge-jointed knees. The only [small] issue with Kanan Jarrus is that the holster, which houses the blaster beautifully, has been adhered to the pant leg, which means it inhibits the full range of movement.

The holster/belt combination is a small setback, but you’ll still get an excellent range of movement with the figure. However, we would have preferred it if Hasbro had the holster loosely hanging away from the leg a little bit. As you can see, collectors are never happy! Oh, and that blaster? It’s a skiff guard blaster as seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. So, we have a new Original Trilogy blaster that can be paired with older The Black Series 6” figures that didn't come with this weapon. We also need skiff guards in this scale too!. While we’re not huge fans of the show, we appreciate how much nodding the creators give to Ralph McQuarrie and the Original Trilogy. As far as accessories, we’re particularly taken with Kanan’s lightsaber accessory the most. We’re impressed that Hasbro put as much effort as they did into it. Do you know how Kanan Jarrus is always seen clicking the two parts of his lightsaber hilt together? Well, now collectors can imitate this unique approach with the Kanan Jarrus 6” figure because the hilt is two separately sculpted pieces that lock together as we see the character do in the show. It may seem like a small gesture, but this is the kind of stuff we need to see Hasbro continue to bring into all scales of figures. The two-part lightsaber hilt also welcomes a blue blade. The re-release of Kanan Jarrus is excellent. Those that give this figure a chance will be significantly rewarded.
